Here are a few pics to whet your appetite.
First is a parking lot where we met. This was a small bunch of the GT's. When we first arrived all of the GT's were at one end of the parking lot. And the Vipers started parking near the center. Too far apart. So some of the GT's started to come up to the Vipers in kind of a Mexican stand off. With the closest matching colors possible!

This red GT matched up with mine.

There were 3 GTX1's present. Sweet!

We left for a drive through Birminham to Woodward.

stopping at a location where Woodward and Old Woodward meet. Great spot.

It did raise some attention though:

If I didn't move from Windsor recently, I would have loved to have been there with my black snake. Cool pics! :2tu:

I never have been fond of the GT till I saw the conv pics. NICE! Not $150k nice as I'd rather have 3 used Gen 2's for the cash. But I must say, pretty sweet.

Yep, it was quite a gathering! :2tu: The Ford GT folks were having their first ever National Rondevous. They've been in town touring the Wixom Plant, Saleen Plant, Ford Design Center, etc. It has been a great event for them -- on the eve of the shut down of the production of the car. Projections are that the last one will run off the line on September 8th.

It was a friendly group -- they invited us to come play with them on Woodward Avenue. Like Ron said, we met first at a local school. They were scattered over two lots when we first arrived.

Since it was their event we formed a line a bit away from their main group.

They came right over to us and soon we were outnumbered.

During the day we had about 10 Vipers show up. There were 51 Ford GT's (out of the 78 who were in town for the event).

Included in the group were some GTX1's, the roadster that is produced as an aftermarket conversion in Wisconsin.

After everyone showed up, we cruised over to Woodward. The parade of GT's and Vipers turned heads, even in this town where rare cars are all over the place.

After we cruised a bit we gathered at the favorite Viper nest adjacent to Woodward.

Hoods went up and we all begain to swap the kind of info that car guys love. The most spectaular GT had removed the supercharger and added twin turbos (1,000+ hp at rear wheels).

Not to worry, Ron kept the Vipers respectable with his Paxton SRT-10 (that's him coming into the picture from the left).

The whole day was great fun. The Ford guys were very open and receptive -- a couple of them swapped drives with Viper owners so each could sample the other's car.

Stay tuned, there may be more fun tonight after they get out of their banquet and rumble back down to Woodward! :headbang:

It's been a great weekend up here. The weather has been perfect and the tour of the Wixom Final Assy plant today was pretty cool. Everywhere you go there are GTs cruising around town. A lot of the guys here own both Vipers and Ford GTs and it's good to see a bunch of Vipers among the GTs.

This was a very well organized event--thanks DBK!

Here's a couple of pics I shot through my car window at the Saleen plant tour before security sent me packing... (I didn't have my Viper though so they were'nt quite as cordial)

Wow, what a great event. Sounds like that group of GT owners are great car folks. GR8 ASP, your car is probably the meanest looking Gen III I've seen to date. What wheels are those?

Does the Motor City VCA have any more events planned this week for the dream cruise? I'm not a member yet, but I'dlike to meet some fellow Viper owners and figure there will be more than a few opportunities this week :) Great pics BTW!
