    '96 CS Edition

I owned #15 for a while. Note from the pictures the actual lack of air bag on the steering wheel and the glove box door . The 1996 roadster was a "transition" from Gen I to Gen II and moving the assembly. Roadsters built at old facility, production stopped, then coupes built at the new...

    Throttle cable pulled through firewall

Same problem, '99 coupe. Rube Goldberged with grommets and wire ties to get home. Local dealer wouldn't exchange under warranty, they said they had to do the work, and I wouldn't let them tow (their suggestion}. Roanoke Motors next dayed me a replacement under warranty.

Why can't the valve affected VIN #'s be listed on the web page?

Why can\'t the valve affected VIN #\'s be listed on the web page? They aren't secret, or are they? I called the appropriate 800 number yesterday, used the right option #, and the lady didn't know what I was talking about. I was put on hold for 10 minutes, and then she came back on and told me...

Not Happy! National VCA please get involved!

Thinking "out of the box". First, Dodge knows what needs replacing. Second, they know what is needed to make the fix, both in tools and extras i.e. gaskets. So, my thought is, appointments can be made at any dealer close to those affected Vipers, and Dodge can fly a "certified repair person"...

    ABS Light on! Oh shucks!!!

Get it in to the dealer. It's under warranty, and there are so many things that it could be, I don't think anyone would, or should try to trouble shoot it on the board. It may be something simple and easy, but it could also be a severe problem. Does the pedal feel ok?

    First oil change

I go for between 500 and 750 for the first oil and filter change. This is to get rid of the misc. stuff flushed loose from inside the block, and to get rid of the initial wear particles. After that, it's really dependent on how you drive your particular Viper. Some owners may not put 3,000...

First Performance shoot-out for the SRT-10

Re: First Performance shoot-out for the SRT-10(UPDATE) Why don't they mention the gas guzzler tax that those REAL guzzlers do NOT have to pay.

    Dyno numbers on SRT/10 ??

Before you had modifications done, if the numbers concerned you, and if it's not to late, get your Viper to a dealer so they can check the computer and sensors. Last summer we had a member dyno very low, and he took his Viper to a dealer who checked everything out. They found a bad sensor, if...

    Chrome plater for wheels

Does anyone have a recommendation to chrome plate Viper wheels? Any experience bad or good with anyone? I'm considering this for my '03, when it comes, since I can't drive it until March or April, weather depending.

    Red SRT-10 arrived...

Steve, Congratulations on Elaine's new Viper;-) Remember, the new Viper has a viscous coupled rear differential, not the posi we're all used to. From what I remember, it's based on the Grand Cherokee, so it MIGHT use the same fluid. Also, back in the "earlier" MOPAR days, factory fill for the...

The REAL question? How long to TOTAL the first SRT?

You can put me down for the second day of ownership, given that all 2003 owners should have some experience with the power and handling. However, that doesn't mean that someone, somewhere, ends up doing someting...... What was the previous percent of first day crashes, and totals? JonB?

How many officers of the VCA are getting 2003s?

1st, no cars would be delivered, until ALL certifications are complete. This reasoning would be based on the fact that all Vipers have been 50 state complient for most, if not all, their life. 2nd, I'm sure how soon your dealer submitted the actual vehicle order came into play. Diligence on...

Brake failure results in totaled Viper

WHO did the work of changing the brake fluid, etc? Perhaps there was a petroleum based contamination of the parts somewhere during cleaning or installation? petroleum based stuff and the rubber used in brake systems is asking for failure....

Latest News Flash, Dodge renames the Viper (misc. ramblings)

As I had posted before. In 1989, Chrysler/Jeep had the gonads to call me to notify me that there were production problems with the Bendix anti lock brake system. They asked me if I would like to wait for those problems to be corrected, or take delivery of a Jeep Cherokee without the 4 wheel...

Latest News Flash, Dodge renames the Viper (misc. ramblings)

It's to be called, the Dodge Dilemma. Lets see, my time line was, notified before VOI that I had a VIN number, with a first week in Oct. build. Called Viper Headquarters to set up a factory pick up. Had explained to me that no Vipers would be shipped before the end of September (this from JRT...

Don't Hold Your Breath! They're NOT Coming Out Any Time Soon?

Re: Don\'t Hold Your Breath! They\'re NOT Coming Out Any Time Soon? We will get the final word, when Dodge sends out their Customer Satisfaction surveys about our buying experience. I know I will be letting them know that this experience has soured me on their vehicles, and the way they do...

Hey Dodge, what about CUSTOMER relations

Thomas, please see the "private message" I sent you. Yes, it's an apology...... But, (there's always a but), I was willing to accept my 2003 with the hot side sills. I burned my legs on my '96 roadster (once), I burned by legs on my '99 coupe (once), and I came close to burning my legs on the...

Hey Dodge, what about CUSTOMER relations

I would like to see all Vipers be perfect off the assembly line, but that isn't possible in the real world of assembly line production. But, regardless of that, all I want to know is what's going on. There has never been any "Official Dodge response" as to what is going on. Only what...

Hey Dodge, what about CUSTOMER relations

I don't want to sound like a whiner (though I probably do), but the CARB issue was the only issue at VOI (yes, I attended), and, at that point, cars were still being built. I don't know anything about the mid November release, as when I called to schedule a plant pick up, I was told the...

Hey Dodge, what about CUSTOMER relations

OK Dodge, all rumors, so and so heard from someone, or whatever aside, WHAT'S THE STORY ON THE SRT-10? We all want a perfect car. Will we be waiting 2 month, 6 months, or until 2004 to receive our 2003's? Why can't you let us, the customer know what's going on? Sure, good press looks fine...

Please, let's ask D/C to do something about the "heat" issue with SRT!

Re: Please, let\'s ask D/C to do something about the \"heat\" issue with SRT! I have managed to "tatoo" the backs of my legs on my previous and current Viper, and also at VOI with the '03. The problem IS being addressed, so hang in there. Oh, and those headers and low flow exhaust systems. I...
