Are you gonna make it out to silver state classic this year?

Optima batteries is sponsoring the standing mile event and putting up a little challenge, callout of sorts against Big Red.

I wanted to give everyone a heads up that we (Optima) will be sponsoring the Silverstate Open Road Challenge series again this year. We have made an agreement to step up our participation and we are now the primary sponsor of the Optima Batteries High Noon Shootout. We are also the official battery of the entire series. The first event is May 18-21 next month. Here is the official description of high noon shootout:

The "High Noon Shootout" at the "Classic Corral" is a new and additional event presented by the SSCC. This event is a One-Mile acceleration contest on fenced SR-490, in Ely, NV taking place on the Saturday's before the NORC and SSCC events from 12:00 noon to 4:00pm. This event will allow the driver to test their cars at speed and perform final tuning and reliability checks before the Sunday event. All participants must be registered pass final tech inspection prior to 12:00 noon Saturday. Cars will be allowed as many runs as possible within the time allowed by the road closure permit. Detailed information will be supplied at registration and results will be announced at the Driver's Meeting on Saturday night. You can do this exciting new "Shootout" for only $200.00. For those that have already entered the event and are interested in registering for the "High Noon Shootout", please contact Steve Waldman by email [email protected] or (702) 451-1513 or contact Gail Waldman at [email protected].

Now for the cool part: A little bird just told me that “Big Red” will be going for the record at the Optima Battery High Noon Shootout. The record holder is currently Jerry Mall (K&N) with a top speed of 182mph. Keep in mind that the elevation in Ely NV is 6427 feet so 182 mph for a standing start mile isn’t too bad. There is a good rivalry building here that should provide some healthy competition. There are 30 cars entered in this event alone.

Keep in mind that this event and the other great events run this weekend in Ely are open to anyone with any type of car (that can pass tech). There are 3 main events and they are described here:

There is no excuse for you guys not to sign up (unless you’re going to Hawaii or some lame excuse like that!). If you want any more info please send me a message.

Thanks,
Cam
