I just picked up an '06 Coupe last week. I'm having a very hard time finding insurance due to my questionable recored (1 accident, 1 ticket). I'm getting quotes as high as $1480/month.

Just curious as to who you guys are using and what kind of rates you're getting?

I'm getting pretty frustrated with this.

Age 35, no tickets, same company since 1999 ( progressive ). Full coverage, $500 deductible comprehehensive.

$939 every 6 months on an 2005 viper. My truck, an 02 chevy is $500 even, same coverage.

1480/month......Questionable recored.....doesn't sound to bad. Good luck with that one.
I am with Met-life ins. Insurance will differ quite a bit depending on many many things, age, location, record, multiple cars, home owner, etc.
I'm 33 with 3 cars insured, multiple policies for homes, 1 ticket and I live in the suburbs.
viper cost me about 700/year. 500/deducts. Car is figured for pleasure use only....

Guess I won't complain about my Viper insurance ever again.

Age 34, only 1 speeding ticket (2 years ago), no accidents, full coverage, $500 deductible, 5 vehicles insured, Home Insurance and Umbrella to boot, State Farm Insurance, same agent for 12 years and I pay $536 every 6 months for the Viper anyway. Looks like a steal with the numbers quoted here.

$1480 per month, that must have been some accident or ticket or both?

Juice....Please don't tell us that you didn't inquire about insurance before you purchased the Viper? Didn't anyone inform you that you should have done this ?

Some people use grundy but they have limits....Such as you can't really drive the car a lot.. only to car shows .....

If you own the car without a note u can save about 50% on u're rates but declining the comprehensive which covers theft and fire..... just a thought but u would have to be careful where ever u park the car so it is not stolen obviously

You can also raise your deductable to $1000

The best way to save is to do what these guys are already doing ... that is having all your business with one company .. multiple cars,house,etc.... i have all my insurance with Allstate and got a little screwed because Allstate refused to insure vipers in Texas... so i have to go with Geico...i can't switch from allstate because texas has frozen homeowners insurance which costs me 4k a year ... if i switched everything to another company the cheapest homeowners would cost me $8k

Insurance is just a big game. Rates vary by state, zip code, age, marriage status etc

I am 42 and I couldnt tell you what the cost is I know its not worth mentioning. The car is insured for limited mileage and of course I have my home on the policy too,not too many tickets 1 or 2 at the most, shop around dont just go for a quote from one or two companies I use state farm but it depends on so many factors.

$920 for six months covers my 03 viper (claim 5k miles yr), and 2 '07 Toyaota Yaris's (claiming 15k yr each, daily drivers for my wife and I) with full coverage, $500 deductible, roadside assistance, and glass. Geico rocks, been with them for 5 years, and my wife and I have each one speeding ticket in the last 4 years, and I have one accident, one parking ticket, and one HOV viloation in the last 3. No one else can touch Geico for us.

So in the Staes your premiums are related to how many miles you drive??

In Canada I pay $1500 for 9 months of full coverage - no limit on mileage. For the remaining 3 months of storage (fire, theft, vandalism) I pay $131 bucks.
Seems like a fair deal to me!

My policy is not the same type as our everyday drivers,Viper is based on the idea its not driven regularly or in rush hour so its covered at a reduced rate,it also of course is not left in parking lots and not left in areas that are more susceptible to theft

Your leaving out too many variables, age, location, do you have any other cars, how man y miles a year are you claiming and what deductibles.

All these factors play a huge part. I will say if your real young and having a accident/speed tickets you may get a little bent over, but $1480 a month is unreal. When i was 20, i had a bad record. I remember paying $250 a month for my Streetbike while my friends paid $40 a month. After my record cleaned up it dropped considerably.

Im 32, clean record and 3 cars on insurance, Viper is set for low mileage, extra vehicle and I pay $1200 a year for Viper, my other cars are $800 each a year. My compamy is SAFECO and they do my homeowners also, so I get a little break.

I have Grundy......and yes you can take the car for a drive when you want, just not as a daily driver, and not to run errands. No mileage limit, and AGREED VALUE! I have my agreed value at $85K for my S/C'd, 3:55's, Sidewinder Wheels, etc for $1,098 per year. No tickets, no accidents, and I'm an old guy, 58!

BC government insurance. $3,000 for Viper, $1450 for Stealth R/T TT (rull coverage), $600 for older F150 - min. coverage. I have 2 tickets and wrote off a Viper last year. That cuts my driving record down to a 17 year safe driving discount! I'm cancelling all my insurance (3 cars and 2 trailers) and purchasing a Fleet policy. That'll cut my present insurance paid out by 33%!!!

Government insurance doesn't say No to any driver. Even after 3 DWI's one of the locals has no problem getting insurance. I think he pays about triple, but still cheaper than $1500 per month.

Normal Safe driver coverage is a 43% "discount" = $3,000 year for my Viper.

CHUBB is the way to go. I live in jersey and i have two vipers, one truck and a car i pay 4800 for all. Also chubb will insure you for sure. They are very good and reliable as well. What ever you do make sure you get agreed value added to your insurance. Agreed Value is if the car is worth 80K then with that type of feature added it will retain it's value through out the life of the ins policy. So a 2 years later if something were to happen you still get the 80k not what the car is worth 2 years later. That is why my Ins is a little high but worth every penny of it.
Most ins companies won't tell you about it but i think that everyone that owns high end cars should get that feature added.

$1541/year. No tickets and I'm 48. My agent is Dyck insurance. It's not important but I just like telling people that I have DYCK insurance.

I just called Grundy, there insurance quote is much cheaper than my Allstate policy but the limits aren't near as high or as good.

Allstate policy $1,929.70 vs. Grundy $881.73 with a stated value of $60,000.00.

Please let me know your thoughts.

I pay about the same 500 every six months If I had to pay 1480 a month I get rid of it or just track it. That price is out there.

Take the grundy use the difference to pay for an umbrella policy on your house for $1,000,000...that should cost $500 a year

Quit complaining guys. I pay $700/month for insurance on a 2006 Mazda3 hatch. Just to give you a rough idea, I'm 21, male and living literally on a dragstrip. My street light-to-light is exactly a 1/4 mile. $8500/year on a grocery getter. Clean record, no run-ins with law enforcement, but I own the car and I'm the primary driver. I will GLADLY pay one of your insurance bills instead of mine!! It would be a pleasure to do so! I can't imagine owning a Viper and paying for insurance at my own age, although I know what I'd be paying per year if I were to be insured on a '97 RT/10 as it's one of my favourite cars:
