Local dealer text me early yesterday morning(7-3-13) and said the first of 3 cars would be delivered today. I replied back "cool" as they have waited several months and she was a no show. Less than 10 minutes later my phone is going crazy. The transport had just pulled into parking lot. I asked that he send pics as soon as he could. I noticed the car was white with black stripes while in the carrier; sent it to my fiance with a :) face. She called within minutes and said " what are you waiting for; lets go!" I came home and jumped in the C6 and drove the next 45 minutes with butterflies in my stomach. Unlike most of you guys; I have not seen a GenV in person.

So we get to the dealer and walk in........it's pure sex! White with black stripes.....gts.....HK sound system and the upgraded leather(camel color). THe interior did not spike me at first. Its very "different" but within a few minutes grew on me. A few hrs later I closed the deal and drove her to the back for the PDI. I was saddened to see the C6 go...but WOW; what a machine.

I have dreamed of owning this car for years. I thank all of you for posting the mule pictures and photos of your own. BUT.....pictures do not do these cars justice PERIOD.

I will upload a few pictures shortly.( just to brag LOL)

THE ONLY QUESTION......

I had to drive back in the rain. Here in west texas we do not see much of this so the road film is disgusting. I washed her down this evening while watching the fireworks display. My passenger side door is popping open on its own. At times it will open from the outside....but others it wont.
I did a search on this and found the older Gens have had this problem; but cannot find anything on the GenV.

any help would be greatly appreciated

James

That is one sweet ride my friend. Congrats, you did good.

You do need a new forum name though, and quick. Onebadgts maybe.

Nice looking! I can't say I have heard of the doors popping open.

So the question is, did you trade in the C6?

I was thinking the same thing LOL.....Who do I need to contact to have the SN changed? I was very close to just creating a new account since I had not posted since I joined.

Yes I traded off my C6. Less than a yr old but was definitely not a down grade.

Thank You Guys for the compliments

Congrats! Please post your thoughts on the C6 Vs. the Viper, after you've had some time to evaluate. Although do do at your own risk, lots of passionate Viper owners here, lol.

I've run a ZR1 at Spring Mountain, a phenomenal track car. In October, I will be returning to Ron Fellows school for another class. I will be tracking my Viper each evening after running Corvettes during the day. It should be very interesting to compare them back to back. With any luck, the school will also have some C7's by then.

Beautiful machine, enjoy!

Door popping open is strange. Definitely don't close the door with your hand on or depressing the door latch though.

Gorgeous car, I've never seen the door popping issue before. I've had a Gen 3 and currently have a Gen 4 and never experienced that issue.

Yeah, I'd run back to the dealer and get that door fixed. That is extremely strange... Almost looks like the motor that kicks the door open when you engage the door latch is activating.

Congrats! Seems like the exterior door latch is malfunctioning, probably needs replaced. Never saw that before, and it is the same setup as gen 3 and 4.

Bet that door issue would have never made it out of CAAP if it had been on the driver's side....probably an easy quick fix.

Duck Tape?

;)

Fiance is a super trooper....she volunteered to ride the distance in case the door swings open she can shut it. ( when in reality she has gotten a taste of the paparazzi life while in the car... and will beat any woman in her way. LOL)

I called the dealer this morning and sent the video over. Tech says its a bad module but its not a "instock" item....go figure. So needless to say we are off to the dealer now. Positive side: were getting closer to the 500 Mile mark and then we can let her rip.

Thank you guys for the help and compliments

Nineball- Your delivery actually inspired me to consider something other than black/black/black.

I now know why you went white. I wish I could have pulled the plant experience. That's just awesome

Bcm controls doors. You could have tried a reset before going to dealer but I'm betting needs a new bcm anyway. Sweet car!!!

hope it gets sorted for you quickly.

question, does it pop open when you lock the doors? (as a temporary fix?)

While in the car I hit the lock button as soon as the door is shut. Its holds until door is opened again.
Now when the car is parked the door does whatever it wants. Locked doors, keys in the house, pops open.

You both are going to have to get used to that. I consider the Viper a rolling circus. Every time it comes out be prepared for looks, camera phones, comments, stares , waves, thumbs up etc! Way more than any Corvette.

I had to warn my wife "you realize we will get our picture taken, a lot"

She has gotten good at waving!
