Why not carry licence plate inside the car, and just throw it on the dash when you see a cop, that's what I do in the UK.

Some people in the UK use stick on numbers on a reflective back ground and stick the plate on the hood, but if you read the rules closely even that type of plate is not legal! I got the correct legal size plate and Place it on the dash every now and again ;)

Make sure you remove it from the dash if putting the pedal down, it has a tendency of landing in the trunk :D

I've racked up seven of them since 2004 and still won't put a plate on, it's the price of doing business.
And they are $135.00 here...:omg:

I recently had a neighbor call the police and report that I didn't have a front plate. Officer came to my house and wrote me a ticket for it.

I don't miss NOVA at all. I lived in Fairfax while an undergrad. They billed me yearly for property tax on my cars despite the fact as a student I was a resident of another state with an out of state plate on the cars. They laughed at me when I pointed out that I had no local representation since I could not vote locally yet I was being taxed. I was also pulled over multiple times for no front plate on my sports car. Add the no radar detector laws and I got out as soon as I graduated.

Good luck with your local revenue generators.....I mean LEOs.

Nebraska finally came up with a solution, and for $50 if you use your car primarily for car shows, special events, collection, etc. you can get just a rear special interest plate. Thank goodness, no more concern for messing up the front end -- I have the special interest plates for both my cars.

There hasn't been had a front plate on my Viper in Fairfax County since 1999. Never been an issue.

Use your trip to Home Depot for some **** killer for your driveway.

This. I'm also garaged in Fairfax. I've driven my viper and previous corvette for six years without a front plate. Last time a cop pulled me over for no front plate my response was "the dealer had to order me a front plate bracket, it's not in yet."

Never been ticketed for it. If a cop is looking for a reason to pull you over a front plate is one of them but a determined cop can always find a reason to stop you.

I wish Ohio would do something like this. I'd gladly pay a bit extra to not have to worry about it.

Been running without a front plate on my vipers since 1999, and on my stangs since about 2003. I've gotten one ticket on each in that time. The viper ticket was like in 2005 and the state trooper was a total DB, he drove thru the median on the interstate throwing dirt everywhere into traffic to pull me over, I was in the slow lane, piddling along, actually on my way to the track, had my helmet, gloves etc in the passenger seat. He asked about it & I said I was going to the track, I drive slow on the street and use the car for the track, seemed to only irritate him more & he said he'd be looking for me and would ticket everytime he saw .. never saw him again.

I got stopped in the GT500 just a month ago, while I was getting gas, a cop pulled in and yelled at me, must've been the younger brother of the other DB. He was a real **** too, was virtually shouting at me, I was super nice, wished him well & safety, thanked him, and again, he seemed to only get more angry the nicer I was. It was $70 for that one, MD has really upped the cost.

I swear I've talked to a lot of nice LEOs over the yrs, had them stop next to me & talk about the car, etc., but man some are friggin ****'s.

I was thinking about getting a removable bracket and put the tag in the trunk, if I get stopped, I can say what? Oh crap I cleaned the car & forgot to put it on, and take it out & put it on, if the guy isn't a total super DB maybe that could work. But I'm not drilling anything into either car.

Hopefully someone does a no-drill mount soon like we've had for previous gens ...

Ain't that the truth!

It is unreal to me that I just paid sales tax and in October I'll get hit with personal property for the car too... How many hands do I need in my pocket?

"God" created Man. Man created government. Man bows down to government time and time again. I hope I get to see the next revolution in my lifetime, we're way overdue. Btw, you can fight anything the government throws at you and win 99% of the time. It just means doing a little homework and not fearing the system. Imagine if we stopped paying fines and fees...how much power would the government have over us then? Not enough jails to hold us all, yet it's getting close.

Drive your car the way you want and be safe.

I just don't like the look of having a front plate on any car and sometimes I won't have one on my daily drivers unless the dealer already put holes in my bumper. In MD it has actually gotten me out of at least three speeding tickets and by just giving me a front plate ticket instead which is only $50. In my Viper I had only been pulled over solely for the front plate once in 10 years and I was just given a warning.

september 1 Texas will no longer have a front plate.....

Please tell me this is confirmed. Haven't put a plate on my SRT Jeep yet and was considering it because I don't want to be harassed after I've had a beer with dinner.

Some states require that the plates be bolted to the car. Zip ties and Velcro don't comply. I believe NJ was like this when I lived there. Of course I never put a plate on the front of my Viper in any case.

It's $70 now in MD. Just got a tick in my GT500 last month by a DB trooper. Err.

I live in Texas and I absolutely refuse to bolt a plate to the front of my truck or car so I hope cubican is right about sept 1st. My wife however wanted the plate on the front of hers because she's non confrontational and doesn't want the hassle of getting pulled over. I think it would look hideous on the front of my truck and won't even consider it on the front of my Viper !

Can they really get you for that while parked on your own property?

Yeah, I wouldn't put a front plate on any of my cars, ever...luckily my state does not require them...and really, what's the point of a front plate? We don't need to make it any easier for them to issue photo tickets and other bogus crap that doesn't help anyone other than the politicians and the cronies that get the contract for the automated ticket dispenser.

Can they really get you for that while parked on your own property?

I'm not so sure about that...I think he was just messing around with that comment. A traffic citation cannot be issued if your car is not on a public road. You do not have to have your car registered if you leave it parked on your private property, but the moment you drive your car or even park it on a public road your car can be ticketed/towed.

I've been running for over 2 years with no front plate. Being near the only watering hole for miles in western Loudoun, I'm almost guaranteed to run into a deputy each time out. No issues. I figure if I do get a ticket it is the same as paying a no plate fee.

Unfortunately they can ticket you while the car is on your own property. Been there and done that! Paid more than my fair share of no front license plate tickets over the years. Just will not put one on MY property or asset! It more depends where you are when you get it. In the suburbs of Front Range Denver, they don't even worry about it. They have bigger issues to deal with like lost dog, bums, etc. In the inner city like Denver, they actively go out of their way to ticket you for it and anything else they can find. Parking on the street with meter all paid up and the city now allows the meter maids to issue no front license plate tickets at $120 per pop. I look at it this way, they want to act like that, they will not get my money for anything in Denver County. We don't go downtown much anymore. Why would you if they act that way?

The no front license plate law is a money grab no matter how you look at it, period. Something is going in front of the state here in the next month or two to try to get the law changed again. This time, it may have a good chance as proposed as the fall back is a special plate with higher fee like Nebraska.
