1996 RT/10 - fuel filter replacement

Looking to change the fuel filter on my newly purchased 1996 McViper. Following the directions in the service manual, I have been able disconnect the quick connect outlet hose. However the inlet hose and existing filter (pictured) does not seem to have the described plastic release mechanism...
