pretty much what i expected. the C6 Z06 weighs 250 lbs less and has more aggressive gearing at 3.42 ratio in the rear. at speeds above 100+ mph when aerodynamics come into play the Z06's lower CD also helps it too. both cars bone stock put down about the same rwhp but the SRT-10 has more torque. would like to see a ford GT thrown into this race as well. i bet the GT would pull on that C6 Z06 like the Z06 pulled on the SRT-10. while GT's are 100 lbs heavier than SRT-10's they have 3.31 rear gears and better aerodynamics. also the GT puts down 520 rwhp bone stock.

That's why gears were the first thing I changed when I went to my 3.45s (with only 800 miles on the stock gears) ... I wouldn't go higher than 3.55 gears though with the Viper

Having owned a Vette, 3.73 gears gave the car a nice pop (but not as much gain as the 3.45s on my Viper), whereas 3.90 gears were too much for the Vette ... so I like a Viper's chances with 3.45s or 3.55s vs. a Z06 with any gear ratio

That thing walked the Viper. Mark my words though, I guarantee if a new Z runs me out here in Chicago, ill spank it. The chances of running into someone who can actually drive the vehicle is slim to none! Yea I said it... none the less, both great cars.

yep, its sad when a stock vette beats a viper pretty easily. but DC got caught with their heads in the sand and deserve it.

Please........<shaking head> I don't even race and I can hear the Viper shift like a friggin granny on the second run. Not to minimize the Vette.....but had the Viper guy shifted like he was in race mode it might have been a little different (meaning a little closer). Other than that...I agree with Plum. :)

I agree Tony. In addition the SRT demands that you take it to red line for maximized performance. Drivers who do not do that, and shift extremely quick, will lose. Previous Viper experience can hurt as Gen I and II desire lower shift speeds.

yeah, thats pretty funny because now that you mention it > it does seem like i have seen several races eminate from this same gas station. makes you wonder you know? and whats up with all the street races bein shot at night? i much prefer to street race in the day. i think most races that are recorded at night are pick up races that are spur of the moment and not planned. i would think that planned races would be done during the day.

i agree with you guys on the shifting part. the driver did shift slow. quick shifting would have cut the loss from 2 car lengths to 1. still would like to see a ford GT smoke that vette though :D

I agree, Some guy with a video camera, taping every fast car that shows up, and then try and sell a race.
Not sure if it's smart to have yourself videoed, illegally street racing??????

My GT put down 551rwhp bone stock. My friend had a Carrea GT and I was pulling on him a little from a roll going like from 100. I let off too soon or I think I would have pulled on him harder. I am glad I have a paxton and lighter fly wheel so I don"t get smoked by a Vette

Well it is pretty hard to refute what I just saw. It's to bad that dodge will let this happen. I was hoping that chrysler would take on the z, but I would have expected to have heard some "hints" by now. I'll wait a little longer, but it looks like a super charger for me. BTW, someone tried to super charge a z and blew the engine, which is what I would expect unless the z had a lot of internal work done

Well considering there are no tuning programs available plus the 11:1 compression that's what you get! LOL A cam swap and 150hp shot guys are getting 600RWHP and 700RWTQ. To me that's the easiest route. God knows how well larger enignes respond to juice, just asked the nitrous guys here!

You mean it would have cut from 3 cars to maybe 2 cars, and that is only if they would have shutdown right there and then. You realize how hard the Z was pulling up top? And the Viper isn't even stock.

Don't get me wrong, I am a Viper owner, and I love Vipers, but I am going to give credit where credit is due, and a Viper stands no chance against a C6 Z06, given EQUAL drivers.

I wouldn't beat up Dodge about the Z06. This thing is BRAND NEW. Nobody was sure what it was capable of before it came out. Give Dodge a year or two, and I'm sure they'll lap it once again.

I'd like to see how a Coupe does, though. I think it would hang much better in that sorta race. I don't think there'd be as much of a gap in the higher speeds as there is against the convertible.

nitrous is great in a short run(and pretty cheap hp) but what good will it do on a road course or long runs? it's like steroids for drag racing.

GM did a real nice job in putting out a fast car. My buddy got his a little over a week ago and it's a real nice car. I can't wait to get my new coupe so we can do some testing of our own.

I would love to see that. Should be a great comparison!

The Viper was shifted by someone who had no clue what a tach was and how to use it.
Was that Fast Freddy driving the Viper?
