I've heard some bad things about A1000 regarding shutting down from heat. Not sure how true that is however.

Go with a Weldon. I have one and have been told many good things about it. I know of many Viper owners that have them.

what he said ^^^^^

or, you can have your fuel pump modified, and put two walboros in your fuel tank which is good to 1000hp I am being told.

Go with Weldon....great pump and doesn't use the fuel to keep the pump cool like the aeromotive pumps do. Want vapor lock?...then go with Aeromotive...lol.

It's easy to spend other people's money, isn't it?

The Aeromotive 1000 (not to be confused with the eliminator which does have heat cavitation problems) has an excellent record as a solid external pump. Heffner has used it, DLM has used it. And it is a heck of a lot cheaper than a $600-$1200 weldon pump.

I ran one for years on a mustang and ran one for years on a viper.

Get one from Summit and be happy.

I sure hope joe is right...:)

I have a new aeromotive waiting for install this winter.

from what I have read its a good fuel pump. especially if its in addition (feeding extra injectors like the DLM kit) to the stock one.

I just received a 427 all aluminum 18º SBC N/A 640HP, Locomotive F.I. made by Tom Nelson (check september´s Hot Rod magazine or his website). The guy makes 1000 - 1200 Turbo engines like pankakes. He recommended the A1000.

I have a Paxton/GSS pump that I took out of my Camaro. Worked great, but was loud and I didn't need that much pump since I stayed N/A. It's the same as the later model Aeromotive. PM if you are interested.

I have the Aermotive Eliminator pump which is garbage in the heat! They overheat and vaporlock in temps over 100 degrees. I switched pumps thinking it was the pump but had the same problem and another car similar is also having the same problems with the Eliminator, so its not isolated to my car, but may be isolated to higher heat areas like Vegas. They are for sale cheap if someone is looking for one. They have no problems in temps lower than 100 degrees.

A1000 is not the Eliminator pump. just a minor detail here. the A1000 is a smaller pump and is rated for continual usage unlike the eliminator which is bigger, badder, more expensive, and "race only". b/c it burns out. or can.

Joe,
Would the A1000 be suitable for a s/c car making 800rwhp and in the Vegas heat? Is there some design difference between the 2 pumps that causes one to overheat?

I don't work for Aeromotive, so I don't know about the design. I do know that I ran my DLM car (supporting 965rwhp) w/ the aeromotive A1000 for 4 years w/o issue. I upgraded to a weldom when I went w/ the TT set-up.

My understanding is that they are more durable and don't generate as much heat and they can support the continuous flow. they are -10 in and -10 out whereas the eliminator is -12 in and -10 out.

But the real story is that the A1000 is a workhorse and does what it is suppose to do. I don't think the eliminator was _designed_ to have issues. But it does. So we all know to avoid it. But I don't know what the design issue is.

Some have rigged up dual A1000 set-ups instead of a weldon. And I looked at this. If I didn't have a smokin' deal on a weldon 2345, I'd have done dual A1000's.

So what would it take to switch out the Eliminator for the A1000? Do you know if they are physically the same size? Would just a different fitting be needed to go from -12 to
-10 inlet?

How does JID take off his Weldom??????? LOL!

On a more serious note, I say go with a dual in tank setup and forget the external pumps.

You do not have to run a fuel pump controller and the in tank pumps will always be cooled by the fuel!

If the stock pump can make 800 RWHP on my DIY Twin Turbo setup with a boost-a-pump, adding another walbro will be all you need for big power.

I have 3 Aeromotive #11102 fuel pumps on the shelf that I'm willing to sell at a discount.

***This link is only for reference and isn't my ad on ebay***

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33555&item=140024000028

These were all used for a short period of time and were recently sent to Aeromotive for testing.

They all came back checked by Aeromotive and are 100%.

I will sell them for $350 each plus S/H

You can contact me at [email protected]

On a side note:

SVS will very soon be offering a complete drop in/plug in CNC fuel canister system with twin walboro pumps for both SRT models and Gen2. The top will have 2 outlets that Y into one and one inlet for the return. This system will include everything you'll need to make 1000hp safely and reliably. The system will also include hard line, regulator, fuel rails, and return line (injectors dependant upon your needs).

This will be a complete DIY 1000hp fuel system for the Viper SRT and Gen2.

David weaver and PBJ both offer this set-up today (dual in tank). Both are also quite reasonably priced.

That aeromotive pump that JR is selling is probably good too... but I don't know jack about it. -12 in and -12 out... that's a beast!
