Will it catch on fire?

I just removed my cats and exhaust...getting ready for some new stuff. I have nothing from the headers back (stock headers still attached). It got me wondering how cool it would sound if I started it with no exhaust system :2tu:. I'm guessing that this wouldn't be the smartest thing to do...surely some gas coming out of the headers would ignite somewhere...right?

If your exhaust is only leaking on the donut it sounds like crap, if you don't have an exhaust at all I can't even imagine how crappy the tractor sound will be!!

I coulnd't resist starting my Ram SRT-10 when I removed the stock exhuast before installing the Borla. Not something I would drive around but it was fun to start it up and rev it in the driveway. Just loud and noisy mostly.

Sounds like a VERY LOUD UPS truck, lol. If you search you'll find at least one thread of a guy driving his car without exhaust to the muffler shop for welding.

I'd be worried about the exhause "dirt" under my car.

When I installed my headers, I put the turn-outs on and fired it up (without cats and mufflers). Sounded great until the heat burned through the (aluminum foil) insulation package on the back side.

Had fiberglass floating around the garage for days.

Our race car had headers and no exhaust system. Our garage was in an industrial zoned area but backed up to a subdivision. If we ever started the engine up after 10pm at night the police would be at our garage in about 5 minutes because of the noise. (I suspected a particular neighbor)

Probably a good idea to have ear plugs, headphones or your helmet on before starting the engine. I know some people used plugs in the headers to keep cold air from rushing into to the engine when they shut it off.
