Also has factory warranty till 2016 or 50,000 miles. Just easy to trade in rather than sell.

Dealer is probably going to offer something super low...much lower than you're probably going to be comfortable with. They always do.

Best bet is to sell it privately through the VCA classifieds to get what it's worth or maybe consider selling it on consignment through BJ Motors.

I would say that is a bit strong for a trade. Check Kelly Blue Book.

Bill

Kelly Blue Book doesn't work well with a specialized car such as the Viper as the information/values in this publication are solely based on average depreciation. The value, whether retail or trade for the Viper, depends on the true market value. The only way to the determine the true value is to check out what other units with similar mileage and model year are listed for and what other buyers are paying for them.

If you're not in a hurry to get rid of the car, try selling it first. You're definitely going to get "low balled" by trading it.

I guess I'm afraid of a lesser driver not understanding how to handle the car for a test drive. It makes me want to do a background check on the person trying to test drive my car! Lol!

For VCA members the classified ad is free.

For those who are not VCA members the cost is $30.00 to run a classified ad on this site.

Good luck with your decision.

I did not test drive mine before I made the decision to purchase it, private party and all that. Most people will understand this is not something to be test driven by the average schmo.... Seen the Allstate Mayhem comercial?

I would take someone for a test ride.... not a test drive, not that I'm ever selling though :)

Yep, I test rode in mine when I bought it. I just purchased a 2008 one month ago. I let the owner drive, I wouldn't have felt comfortable driving his vehicle in case something happened. I drove it for the first time after he signed over the title.

Good luck!

And he's going to get low balled by a bunch of private buyers as well. Just the nature of the transaction.

Buyers can try (the key word here is "try") to low ball but anyone would be foolish to sell at way less than market value - unless due to unforeseen circumstances, he desparately has to get rid of it.

Theoretically, you should always be able to get more selling yoursel because the dealer needs to make a profit on the resale. The question is whether that increased sales price offsets the convenience, ability to quickly get your new ride, and the sales tax discount you get for the value of your trade, which is several thousand dollars depending on your tax rate. I just traded my 2009 SSG vert rather than trying to sell because of these factors.

I talked to a Mercedes dealer in CA that just had a 2008 venom red with red stripes, 6400 miles, 99% perfect, go to a wholesaler. They told me it was going for $59K. My guess is that would be around the trade in value as well.
