My cap has unexpectedly gone missing. I read in other threads that if the old vented cap were clogged, then it may have blown off when hot.
Trouble is, I’m having difficulty finding the appropriate replacement cap to order. Every time I think I’m close, the detailed description says it won’t fit my vehicle.
Any recommendations on where I can get one?
Thanks!!

I would also suggest routing a hose from the cap vent to anywhere pointing down and away from the headers.

Thanks. The Dorman website disagrees with the fit, but is this indeed the correct one??

Heard of peoples caps loosening up over time and coming off. All I have done for 13 years is make sure the cap is very tight. Mine has never come loose.

Mine has never gotten loose over 29 years of road and track duty being firmly hand-tight. The hose *DID* char and catch fire at the track once from radiant heat at #1 exhaust manifold port. In '98, they modified the exhaust shield with a tab that blocked that exposure. I just made my own shields and use a 3/8" fuel line down to the lower frame rail area.

As others have mentioned, I highly recommend DIY'n or purchasing a vent hose for the cap. You can route the hose in a way that locks the cap in place. I had some steel braided fuel line laying around that worked great. Always thought it was strange that Vipers had that many storries of losing caps, or burning a car to the ground when that fluid finds hot exhaust.
