Im with makara on this one. Didnt get an overly negative vibe from this article or video like v10 seems to have gotten. I too didn't see this as a comparo. That would be insanity on AW part. I would like to start seeing the Viper compared to the Porsches, GTR's, lambos etc in head to head...
^^I saw this vid on 6speed and wondered if it was OP's car. Hung in there a bit vs a modded Z06. How much power does that LMR package make just for context?
Come on guys lol. No need to ban any body just don't respond to anyone that annoys you. I do it all the time and Im sure others do it to me as well :smirk:. We are all adults here.
Anyway back on topic. Is any car fully worth its price is a question that can be asked in all seriousness...
Congrats. I had a feeling the owners would have a little different take on the Viper than the mags especially from owners that have had other high end machinery from the usual European marques. As said above, Pics pics pics!!!!
Hard to imagine Ralph never experienced a TT Viper in the past either in the passenger seat or drivers seat. His hands must be tied. This Gen begs for some TT love. Hopefully something gives. Until then the racers/tt heads will choose a different platform.
Great color for this car congrats. I'd love to see a white one with a red premium interior and those same wheels but lowered on Moton CS. The red calipers would just add a sweet tie in with the red interior. Id add the carbon fiber aero pieces to set it off. That would be my ultimate G5...
Not a bad render. That front end treatment looks better and more Viper-ish than the current one. I like the brake cooling ducts on both sides of the grill. Still nothing beats teh GTSR body. I really hope for a street legal version of that car, though it is likely a pipe dream. Even so just...
I read on another site that its Mclaren's goal for the Ring. Wow. These guys don't play around and if they are even thinking about that number as a goal that's one team I think can achieve it. A time like that will last a long time. Everyone will be runner up to this bad boy.
No need for an argument on such trivialities. Either side of this coin can be argued to no end lol.
Good to know that tidbit about what Ralph was referring to about the Vipers width. Where did you get that clarification from if you don't mind me asking. That comment from Ralph has been...
Reread what I said sir. "As it stands". There are no MPSC or Trofeos from the factory "as it stands" so you WILL need the TA to edge out the ZR1 on a track. Teh GTS "as it stands" cant do it with those tires hence me saying it "just doesn't have the equipment to do the whole job".....I think...
:2tu:Nice write up. I really wanted to hear from owners about the comfort level instead of teh mag articles since you actually live with it as opposed to driving it for an hour or two. Im glad to hear the interior is on par with the 911 etc. That is quite an accomplishment by SRT in just one...
Good post Chorps. Yeah a lot of that info ran through my mind. I know what they have always been up against monetarily speaking not to mention the different owners/bean counters the Viper had to survive through.
However, if it werent for the Stryker red option I wouldnt be so focused on...
This is exactly why I said I dont trust everything SRT says. They said you needed bigger wheels to fit CCB's. Quite obviously you dont lol. They said the Viper is as wide as legally allowed yet Lambo, Ferrari etc makes cars way wider than the Viper lol. They say CCB's explode and dont offer...
Trap speeds is where its at I agree. We have yet to see any Gen V Viper hit closer to 130mph in the 1/4 like the old Gen IV's did so I don't know if that's an indication that the car isnt working as well in the straight lines as the old car. We know its better in the twisties. Maybe its just...
I think peoples wallets will determine if aftermarket support is necessary moreso than the engineers. Unless SRT engineers are planning to offer factory TT/SC/computer tuning etc I think there are already quite a few past owners and potential new owners that will pass on the G5 because of the...
The Viper doesn't "need" DOHC IMHO to hang with these cars like MP4, GTR etc. The ZR1 seems to be as fast as they are with a manual and ohv config albeit with boost. I think if SRT wants to make the Viper competitive in all performance catagories while keeping the current config then they WILL...
Very sick. I saw another MP4 do 10.3 @ 13x stock on here. Might have been your car. I hope SRT benchmarks the MP4 for the next Viper. The MP4 might be a bit slower around Laguna but this is how you do twisties and straight line in a RWD package in this day and age. Lets hope for a more...
There are quite a few cars that have a better "all around performance" than the Viper. Porsche Turbo S, GTR, Mclaren MP4-12C, ZR1, Gallardo etc. They are all much "quicker" and some also much "faster" than the Viper in a straight line. As long as the Viper keeps its manual and RWD...
LOL. Come on man really? It would only make the Viper that more effective on track. Its FOR the track rats mostly not the poseurs. The bigger wheel excuse etc that SRT has spoken of in the past also holds no water for me. Teh ZR1 has 20" wheels along with the CCB's and its track results...
Venom V you probably have about as much chance as seeing 700hp in a non ACR Viper as you do getting SRT to option CCB's. SRT engineers arent fond of CCB's and voiced that its a "gimmick" and they "explode" lol. I and many dont agree with that especially since a car with those same CCBs out...
Then you will have the Vette guys abbreviating it to "Track Ass"....No thanks.. They could have used "Track Asp" lol...Anyway whats in a name. Especially when teh TA gets its Trofeo running shoes it will assisinate cars on the track.
The wing, diveplane treatment just doest look aggressive or intimidating on the Gen V as it did on the Gen IV. I really hope the G5 ACR isnt like the rendering above. Very boring. I really hope it takes its styling and performance cues from the GTSR. Hope they can get the weight down to...
Id love to see what intake, headers, exhaust and a tune would put down on a dyno, that is, if they really are releasing the pcm. Then add heads and look out for 700+ NA beast. I would have been nice to see it like this factory stock but for obvious reasons it will have to wait for aftermarket...
