Yeah it definitely read like that to me too as well. I am just overthinking things a bit I guess. Well I personally prefer manual and always will gravitate toward it but I can definitely see a DCT improving not only the Vipers performance but its sales as well. It seems, from what I've read...
Ok, with all that has been already said, could it be that Ralph's emphatic statement about "no auto/DCT" in the future was just to affect the sales of the Vipers currently languishing on lots? If you think about it, if SRT were to announce DCT/DI etc are coming in the near future who would go...
I got to say I'm not really a fan of that blue from these pics. I think the Stryker green looks better at least in pics. As mentioned, in person I might change my mind.
Painted crosshairs would probably look terrible with this bright of a color imho. You might get away with doing that with...
Very cool info. I can't wait to see their take on "interesting" in regard the Viper, unless that was just used to refer to what SRT is coming out with in the future as a whole and not necessarily Viper specific. I agree with that quote above on how SRT is acting. Similarly Ralph does not act...
Wow what happened to this thread? It was already entertaining with the usual suspect doling out amateur psych profiles of everyone that doesn't agree with him. Say what you want about the G5 but it gets people talking. No telling where a thread will go. LOL........
Anyway with the resounding...
I don't think it will best the Viper in anything but HP. Its an internal "HP" war. It may make more power than the Viper but it surely won't be engineered to be faster than the Viper around a track. If it comes with a DCT and has more power and it is not big SUV weight, it could give the...
Yes its good numbers in that it showed that they brought new blood into the Viper experience. They suceeded in attracting new buyers. Hopefully that trend will continue despite the air of uncertainty. I must admit I was a bit surprised that the majority were not repeat owners. So it looks...
I read the opposite of that in several different places before so not sure what to believe. At any rate I hope things are not as bad as they appear to be. Time will tell. The GT class wont be the same without them at Le Mans, at least for me. I'm glad they are still commited to the Tudor...
Maybe the money saved from the plant shutdown and them not going to Le Mans can go into the street car in the form of an added vert or ACR and/or upgrades?
The decision they made to pull out of Le Mans has really been bothering me this morning. Ive been giving it some thought. Is it possible that since the Vipers budget incorporates the racing program as well, that the pull out of Le Mans coupled with the plant shutdown will free up some money...
Wow if true. This really disappoints me and says a lot in conjunction with the plant closing. I guess if you can't sell on Monday, then racing on Sunday will be a no go especially given the Vipers comparatively meager budget and poor sales. It appears it may not be able to sustain its...
The main issue here is not what you constantly perceive as trolling. The main issue is that the car is not selling despite how good it apparently is.
EDIT: Just not worth it......
I concur. They could come out with a McLaren P1 beating Viper but their current level of marketing skill would doom that car in the same way as the G5 sales/image-wise.
It is nice that Ralph said they will never offer auto/maybe even DCT type tranny and that more power is not necessary. I...
Indeed LOL. This car has always been polarizing and comments there and here show that it still is. Despite some of its faults how could you not love how all generations elicit such strong emotions on both sides of the fence. Thanks for the link. It was a good read and a pretty balanced review...
Its interesting that if you look at how the TA was/ still is received and perceived by both magazines and car guys you will see it gets much more respect eventhough the performance gap between the models is not huge by any stretch. I think that speaks volumes as to what people want to see...
Some downtime here at work and i've been looking at some of the steeply discounted Vipers being offered. Some SRT's are all the way down under 90k and fully optioned/Strykered/Launch editions etc GTS's at 121k and under. And suprisingly they are still not flying off the lots from the looks of...
This is a sad day that I think many of us expected to happen because of the sales numbers and some other factors. If they bring a new version (vert, ACR) they will have to rethink pricing and maybe performance on any model they bring out. I really hope this not a precursor to the fat lady...
In some cars you can add a rear brace across the shock tower to stiffen up the rear flex. Not sure if that's possible on the Viper. I'm surprised to hear this is happening to the G5.
Nice vid. Car sounded great. I wonder how the passenger side rear wheel well reflector came loose. Maybe the rear tires kicked up some debris that knocked it loose. Looks like it snapped right back in though.
My post was in general not getting at you in any way. I, like many others think it will just be cosmetic changes but Im sure most of us deep down want a bit more power and would welcome it in what ever form it comes, NA or FI.
After Ralph just said 640hp is the sweet spot and seemed to regard more power as unnecessary and almost laughable, I doubt it will be anything dealing with power, much less big power in the way of a supercharger. Probably mainly cosmetic changes dealing with color packages etc and maybe...
