two post lift vs four post

There is another alternative, a scissor lift. Wheels free and great for normal 4" concrete floors and 2,500psi concrete as it spreads the weight over a much larger area. In addition, it's almost invisable as it's 4.5" tall when down, is drive over and has no poles to bang your doors on...

    brake fluid change

Many use Valvoline Synthetic DOT 4 as an inexpensive street / strip solution. Others more knowledgeable than I can speak to the premium products like Castrol SRF.

Kumho Ecsta V700 or similar tires on 96 or 97 cast wheels?

    Synthetic oil question.

For what it's worth, I use the Delvac 1 and have had excellent UOA results (Used Oil Analysis), though not significantly above good old standard Mobil 1. Perhaps an extra margin of safety?

    Who knows about oil pressure?

That's the problem, you can't see the small (and short) pressure drop (assuming there is any) with a gauge that has a heavy silicon oil dampening all movement. My OEM gauge also doesn't show any movement despite the mechanical gauge's momentary drop. Does anyone else have a mechanical oil...

    Who knows about oil pressure?

99 R/T 10, Mechanical (capillary) gauge, aftermarket electronic or OEM Factory gauge? At what RPM did it reach 60psi? Thanks

    Who knows about oil pressure?

Mike, Did check the oil level post OP dip observation and it was bubbleless - A lttle below full but once it sat for a few hours it was dead nuts on the full mark. Knowing the early GENII's had an issue with sucking air on tight track corners (8 qt pan 96 ~ 99), I wired up a bright blue LED on...

    Who knows about oil pressure?

Mike, Impressive experience and I enjoy the banter myself! My K&N is an oil filter, not air. I prefer paper air filters for the same reason you mention regarding K&N air filters. I do send out my used oil for analysis and have been happy with the results using K&N. Read about...

    Who knows about oil pressure?

Mike, While of course you might be right, you challenge Tom at your own risk. Few here are as knowledgeable as he. Perhaps you need to do a search under his name to read up a bit. **************************************************** Let dig in 1) What is the factual basis for your...

Thanks Tom, nothing I would have ever thought of but something that makes sense. As always, appreciate your insight! Ron

    Who knows about oil pressure?

Hi Tom, Any theories as to why the pressure drops at higher RPM's? Thanks

    Who knows about oil pressure?

The stock oil filter adapter limits flow through the cooler at idle to protect the efficiency of the AC condensor by minimizing the heat in front of it. As engine RPM increases, and in theory forward motion, the resulant oil pressure increase forces the bypass to open and allow flow through the...

    Who knows about oil pressure?

As stated, the factory gauge is worthless. Change the sender unit and your gauge will read 10~ 15 psi different than before. A temporarily installed true mechanical (capillary) gauge on my Viper (non ACR) with 5w-40 Delvac 1 synthetic oil (Mobil 1 for diesels) reads as follows: Cold...

Help water dripping on passengers feet

Also, for the car wash wet rug sydrome, check the duckbilled rubber drain valve under the airbox behind the A/C Dryer, (the aluminum canister behind the passenger tire with the sight glass). They can stick shut and if so will allow water to enter the passenger footwell area when water enters the...

    Viper and Trans Am (pics)

There must be a cosmic connection between the T/A enthusists and Viper enthusists, especially now that you reminded me that I had door sag issues with all of my GENII T/A's and now with my GENII Viper. Some things never change.....

What would 2 ´96 rims cost?

If you have something to do with them, display-wise and have access to 2 center caps, why not make a low ball offer? The wheels if undamaged, are perfectly suitable for normal street driving. They're not defective, just not trackable like the later 17" forged wheels are.

Can't make out the hatch pattern in the grill, (diamond is 78, hexagon is '77). The T-Tops are Fishers rather than Hurst but thought '78 had blacked out trim and '77's chrome. The scoop seems to sit low in the hood, which is a '77 trait but has the "T/A 6.6" engine decal which is a '78 only...
