I find this a little surprising.
Why would this be?
The Corvette Racing Team has been running at LeMans (and roadcourses here in the States) for a very long time.
They have been using V8s from 7.0L down to the current 5.5L and have never been prone to overheating.:dunno:
I find the idea of a hybrid 900 HP Viper a little nuts.:crazy2:
The cost of the G5 has already scared off buyers.
I couldn't imagine what a hybrid Snake would cost.
In case anyone is wondering the latest Ferrari hypercar is the LaFerrari.
It sells for 1.35 Million bucks (chump change, right...
Here is a copy of the R&T article mentioned above:
More Mopar engine news today: The 2015 Viper is getting extra power. And no, before you ask, it’s not by way of a Hellcat V-8. We already told you that wasn’t going to happen. The Viper, now rightfully a Dodge again, is keeping its 8.4-liter...
Fellow member Torquemonster found something very interesting on the Top Gear site:
Company insiders hinted that the Viper is being completely rethought. Now that Fiat and Chrysler are one company, all technology is being shared across the company – including Ferrari’s for the first time – which...
The GTS has a beautiful interior...of that, there is no doubt.
But is it worth 40-50k over the SRT?
IMO, not close.
Many dealers stupidly ordered the GTS and loaded it up with options, thereby jacking the Window Sticker way up.
Potential buyers walking around their showrooms take a look at...
LOL, yeah, that.
Most of the GTs I see online are going from $300-400k...used.
I had a chance to buy one new at MSRP or even less way back then.:doh2:
Doesn't surprise me.
Vipers are very rare in Oregon.
I have yet to see a G5 on the road here....
No argument here.
Also, I do think there are a...
After looking at the above comments, I'll list the things (in no particular order) posters are asking for in the Viper:
Roadster
ACR
DCT
More HP
Lower price
CCB
Forced Induction
Direct Injection and/or DOHC
Unlocked ECU
Dodge sponsored Drive Events
4WD
Agreed.
In spite of the new excellent interior, it's hard to justify the current MSRP.
The highest MSRP I have seen so far is $155k on a GTS....that's a lot of dough for a Viper.
SRT made a mistake trying to price the car at those levels.
I wish Exotics Racing did have a Viper in their corral, but they don't.
None of the cars they have are manuals (I think by design).
Here is the list of cars available to rent:

The AWD is a killer in a straight line.
I drove an Aventador in Vegas last year and was not impressed.
Cramped and unbelievably difficult to get in & out of.
On the roadcourse, it went into understeer way too easily.

Funny you should mention that....according to this link, the 2015 Viper will be a "refresh."

I didn't know you were a former beau of my wife.:D
Agreed, the C7 is very nice.
I am surprised if SRT really thought they could reel in many Porsche buyers with the G5.
The Porsche conjures up a different image than the Viper.
With some exceptions (like some of the guys on this forum), the Porsche crowd has a different POV regarding their car.
For many, it is a status...
FWIW, I have started a new thread.
My idea was to give a place where everyone can chime in with their opinion about where the Viper should go from here:
http://forums.viperclub.org/threads/671239-The-current-and-future-state-of-Viper-sales-and-technology
I am sure everyone who posts on the...
I do think price (especially in these economic times) is playing a part.
For example, I found a GTS with a price of $155k (will PM the link to anyone interested).
Agreed.
I guess I was referring to the lack of a Roadster and ACR....something a lot of guys are hoping for.
We have had a very lively conversation in a couple of threads about the G5 and the general future direction of the Viper.
Eventually, the discussion got a little too OT and maybe a little too heated.
With that in mind, I thought we might focus that discussion in its very own thread.
As we all...
You have a point.
Frankly, I don't know what the service intervals are on Ferraris these days (other than much longer than before).
I also agree the Viper V10 is a "tank" and can handle a lot of abuse.:)
Not much left to say after these comments.
Wait, what?
I am supposed to drop...
