Well, obviously quality and competence are important when making investments like this. If I think the company is going down the tubes by hiring people they can get for relatively low bucks and contracting with suppliers that really can't get the job done, no way will I touch the car with a 10...
As much as I like the 911s, the test drives are easy because they have 6 cylinder motors that are in the wrong place with an absolutely useless trunk that's also in the wrong place. Porsche owners are used to that and probably think the Viper motors are in the wrong place with rear trunks that...
I'm sure you'll a couple more mpg when your motor loosens up. Give it a few thousand miles. Vary the rpms and lots of strong acceleration without redlining it.
Thanks for the comments. I wasn't able to duplicate the problem so I must have done something goofy at the time (column key switch lock I think). I have a LoJack but LoJack said I just have a basic tracking system that has nothing to do with the starting circuit.
I second that; I've done this off my back and butt several times. You do have to be very careful with the sill parts so that there isn't any scratching or cracking going on. Measurement won't do anything to help; no substitute for eyeball checking before and after.
Question for all of you: When you start up, do you step on the brake as well as the clutch or do you use the hand brake instead? Mine doesn't fire up if I step on the brake; it will turn over though.
This is the best Viper yet by quite a bit so the market will probably get better more than you think. I hope verts are in that number. I can't see the big deal about the computer cracking - doesn't stop me (but the price tag is daunting). The higher numbers would improve the chances of the...
Thanks for the great thread, Tony. I see you are my size. So the seats were comfortable enough for the long drive. I had the opportunity to sit in one of these during an out of town Memorial trip. Thought the interior was pretty dam rich. No stripes? That's the only thing missing from your...
Just imagine if all Lexus sold was the LFA - you wouldn't have Lexus dealers so it would be sold at Toyota dealerships!
I went to a Nissan dealership that sold GTRs and found the doors locked. Salespeople were not allowed to open them. I asked for the sales manager and was able to get him...
It is the very low volume. I do believe hand labor is overrated; humans get tired, bored, angry, forgetful, inconsistent, etc....Robotized machinery with the programming are very precise but very expensive and can only be justified with more sales volume. The Viper would even be more expensive...
Did you measure the stock vs the ARE? Are they the same? I know the Kooks that I had were 1-3/4s like the AREs and were slightly bigger than the stock; I could tell because the plug access was less and required the smaller ARP header bolts. Did you use the stock bolts with your AREs?
Corn is not optimal for alcohol fuels - it requires more energy to break the cellulose down in corn than other sources of biomass such as switchgrass (not sure I got that right). How is it better for the environment if you have to burn more of it? This isn't a tree hugger issue - it's the corn...
I'd rather see the production go to 3-5k per year if the market supports it. Viper parts/service would be better with a larger market. That's still a pretty exclusive market.
I just recently attended the SRT experience: No Vipers yet. It's not just for Viper owners; anyone who pays the $600 fee or free to anyone who purchased a new SRT vehicle.
The radio control - how easy it to understand instruction over the radio? I have a hearing impairment and not sure how...
Good points, kratedisease. I do believe it was a major goal for SRT to make the Viper more comfortable, and not just for smaller people. There's no need to reduce shoulder room or head room for a car like this. Hopefully SRT is taking notes for the 2014/15. With a low volume plant like...
If SRT designed the seat to fit 260 lb+ people, then the skinnier ones (like me) will complain the seats don't hold and we slide around too much during hard driving! I suppose SRT ought to sell sized seats as an option.
Yes, better driving skills are important but won't matter when basic physics are violated. Light vehicles with wide tires will hydroplane more easily which means to simply slow down; I don't go over 60 when it's raining a good amount as in pouring. Light rain matters little unless tires are worn.
"For me, I've always liked the class of war ship called a battle cruiser. The Viper fits.:headbang:" ???? Isn't that the Corvette?
I don't understand for the minimal cost of an additional half inch of padding why SRT would do this. At this price, we shouldn't have to visit our local...
Viper808, I'm not buying a 2013 either but when I see those pictures I can see why you crumbled; I'm so tempted myself.
I'll let the Prius/hybrid drivers disrespect us - they are doing their part to keep gas prices down for us.
