    Drags @ Infineon

Guys, here's a link to the rules & regs for Infineon's dragstrip: http://www.infineonraceway.com/documents/IRDragRules.pdf Main surprise for me: the tech guy pointed out that I'd need an SFI approved jacket for 11.99 and below. I checked the rules, and yep, there it was. They've never...

    Next viper interior

Kinda depends on how tall you sit in the saddle. I'm tall, drive 9&3, and have no sightline problems. But you bring up an EXCELLENT point: hopefully the Gen V will retain the linear arrangement of analog gauges (vertical or horizontal, either way). I love that feature of the Viper: the...

    Rear Noise on Sharp Turn

Almost sounds like you have a locker in the rear. Do you know for certain that the diff is a stock unit?

A/F dips real low between 5000 and 5500 RPM, any ideas?

I think your AFR, and power, are off by a small amount... and that increasing the boost with the 10 psi pulley (a more significant change) will push you too far lean.

    Drags @ Infineon

Canyon, sorry to see you break. On the other hand, I had a chance to check out your car while we were tending the wounded Challenger and wanted to compliment you. Very, very nice. Jeebus it was too hot. My best run was just before the brackets... but still 89 degrees! Not much chance of...

"Calling Gen 4 ACR Owners" for a prevention precaution tip. SRT Engineers?

Thanks for posting, Jon. I foresee many fewer uses of my trunk in the future.

2012 ZR1 sets new ring record

^^^^^^Absolutely. Nothing should be taken away from Chevy's accomplishment. Honestly, to run that time in a car with no overt aero, with known daily-driver qualities... wow.

2012 ZR1 sets new ring record

Good points here; I'll give the opinion that the ACR has aero and the 'Vette uses electronic stability control = a fair fight. As for the reasoning behind using a '10 ACR in an attempt to regain the record... outside of the logical arguments (building brand, re-introducing SRT, data for the Gen...

My first viper : 2008 viper acr

Looks like a couple of kids are glad Dad's back home! Welcome back... I'm just across the bay from you. I'm amazed you drove that far on the track setup... is the car running PS2s?

    G'Day from Australia

If you do import a "left-driver", you should give "right-shifting" a chance! Outside of the expense involved in switching sides, you'd have also found a way to make a rare car even MORE rare in Australia! I'd shudder at having to "left-shift" myself... but mainly because I'm right handed...

    G'Day from Australia

A great intro. You're not alone; many of us have had our eye on owning a Viper since we first saw them almost 20 years ago. And the car has remained so true to its heritage through the first four generations that it really becomes a question of "when" and not "if" we buy one. Hopefully sooner...

A/F dips real low between 5000 and 5500 RPM, any ideas?

You do have a bit of a divot there. Looks like that tune just wants to slope AFR down; 5000 may be the point at which you just start going too rich. Dynojets don't fully load, though... Maybe that tune is written with a "street" load? Do you perceive any loss in power ~5k rpm when driving at WOT?

    Nor Cal Track Day

HOD will be great for this event, no worries. I've driven a fair amount of HPDE with NASA and NCRC, and both organizations do a very nice job of stratifying drivers to appropriate run groups. These groups are designed to help everyone (from beginners on up) improve their knowledge and...

    Drags @ Infineon

I enjoy Infineon... while the prep isn't as sticky as Sac, the whole thing seems to be run a little more professionally at Sears Pt. Cheap entertainment, that's for sure! FYI, the drags aren't running on June 22, so the next date after the 15th will be June 29th. Rich

2012 ZR1 sets new ring record

Okay, we beat the crap out of this prematurely-dead horse topic months ago. People on both sides of the "take a '10 ACR to the 'ring" argument; I was heavily "hell, yes!" on the subject. So, nay-sayers, how you all feel about it now? There would be something utterly sublime about besting an...

    Drags @ Infineon

Just talked myself into it. Wasn't hard to do. I'll be leaving SSF around 2:15 or so; let me know when you're thinking of heading up there... Also posted the event on the NCC calendar. Weather looks good at this point!

Tracking the ACR: ride height question...

I'm a mild, HPDE-type of driver, not out to terrorize the track. Going to drive Laguna Seca later this month, and plan on setting the shocks to the "rough track" settings. Adding a track extension to the front splitter. Wing and splitter at stock deflections. Using the Sport Cups. I'd...

    Nor Cal Track Day

Not to put you in reverse, John, but are we absolutely limited to weekends? It's actually a little easier for me to take a weekday off; also nothing better than playing hooky at the track when everyone else is working... Rich

What class would you say the Viper is in?

To me, the Viper kinda defies classification. It began as a miraculously unadulterated concept car, and has continued as a stand-alone performance car that is not a halo car version of a lesser model (e.g. Corvette). Off the top of my head, the only comparison that comes to mind is...

    Dyno Result Help

IMHO the tuner and the dyno operator should be the same person. Every car is a bit different, and certainly once the mods start I believe that the tune is best written by iterative testing on a loading (e.g. Mustang) dyno. And I think that's absolutely necessary when adding FI to a car. Not...

    Favorite Gen IV code reader/clearer?

Gonna give the PLX Kiwi/bluetooth a try with my Droid X and the Torque app. I'll report back with results... Thanks again for the info, guys.

    Favorite Gen IV code reader/clearer?

Have you used this with your Gen IV? Full functionality? Looks like an elegant solution. I wonder which unit performs better, an iTouch/iPhone via wireless or an Android device via bluetooth? Good info, thanks!
