    No Crank No Start

Sounds like a bad relay somewhere. The radio shutting down makes sense as most cars will disconnect auxiliary loads during cranking to give as much power as possible to the starter and computer, though the ding does sound interesting. Looks like there is a relay in the power distribution...

2005 Dodge Viper SRT-10 Not starting after going into dash Part 3

Glad you got it fixed! That's a pretty weird one though, but I guess that's kind of how electronics are anymore. Stuff you wouldn't think is related at all can cause some funky issues. The fog light switch in my turn signal stalk was acting up once and allowing the fog lights to come on...

    Cool cars that s u c k to own...........

Hey, if it works for you then awesome! Always happy to see someone enjoying their car and using them regularly. And honestly I'd take any Viper over no Viper at this point, regardless of others say. I love driving my mom's 94 just as much as my 04. It's just a really neat unique experience...

    Oil Pressure

Yeah, behind the bottom of the alternator. Not the easiest thing to get to, but shouldn't have to take anything apart. You will need a big socket for it though. I don't believe it was the typical rounded corner oil pressure socket style, but you will still need a deep set one to clear the...

    03 Airbag Light.

Yeah, that sounds more like a console plug kind of message than a seat one to me. I would have thought if a seat was unplugged that the message would be more directly related to that. That error code almost looks more like the module isn't showing up on the bus, which would have me looking at...

Whining noise coming from the rear end?

I thought I heard something like that in my 04 before, but have since upgraded it to a gen 4 diff. A fluid change probably can't hurt though, would be the first thing I'd try.

2013 Launch Edition Performance Pages issue

Someone else was posting something like this recently. I don't recall exactly what was going on, but sounded like it was a UConnect update problem or something to that effect. I think you can manually update those with a USB drive (at least my parents' Challenger and Ram had that option)...

    Oil Pressure

I've had my sensor go bad once in a really easy to spot way. When it failed it would show 25 psi with the key on and the engine not even running and carried that offset all the time, which gave me numbers very similar to what you are seeing. Yours might not be that extreme, but you could see...

    Cool cars that s u c k to own...........

It's really just because of the lack of a quality top in my eyes. The gen 2 windows do make that easier to deal with, but the tops for either generation aren't exactly the best quality when it comes to keeping the weather out. I guess maybe they aren't all that different from the T-tops of...

    Question…

Unfortunately we just haven't really had the opportunity to put any together for a while now. We've been dealing with getting the club's finances fixed after the major issues we had a while back and are happy to report that on that front at least we are all clear and back to normal operation...

How could a clean Gen3 viper sell for $38K?

40k is considered high miles nowadays? That's kind of scary. For a 20 year old car that's only 2,000 miles a year, which seems in line for what I might expect of a fun summer car. The good thing is that Vipers are built very well and put up with miles pretty great compared to most other high...

    Fuse

Someone else was posting in the gen 3/4 forums that was having a lot of issues tracking down a starting problem. Don't recall exactly what he found in his diagnosis, but I thought he was seeing some weird stuff where he could more or less manually jump the car by powering a relay or something...

    Dodge 8.0 Differences?

I watched a YouTube video recently where a guy did a teardown of a trashed truck V10. He did a Viper style one earlier as well, but I believe it was gen 3 (maybe an SRT10 truck as well if I remember the oil pan correctly). I was amazed just how different the two really were as I've never seen...

Anyone know this '04 Mamba in Indiana?

I guess that would depend on what you mean by issue. My 04 had the smaller longer crank bolt for 125,000 miles with zero problems. I think some of the early early cars had torque issues where they just weren't installed correctly, but it's a fair point that it's worth checking at least. Easy...

Anyone know this '04 Mamba in Indiana?

Power steering and oil cooler lines are the other typical points to check on the gen 3s, otherwise they are pretty solid cars. Maybe shocks as well as I think more people are starting to see leaks on them with age, but mileage might have a lot to do with that as well.

    Cool cars that s u c k to own...........

I've seen those video previews, but haven't watched any yet. I think the only real Viper that would "****" to own would be one of the gen 1/2 roadsters. Any other Viper is perfectly livable and useable on a near daily basis. I don't think they are nearly as harsh and miserable to drive as a...

    TPM Lite

I have had some luck with using aftermarket cloneable sensors. You can program them to have the same ID codes as what was in the car so in theory you don't have to reprogram the TPMS receiver itself, but I've had mixed results with that as well. I ended up getting a DRB III anyway and redid...

Importing a Viper into the US (manufactured for Canada)

What year is it? Gen 2 would be getting borderline to the 25 year rule that would likely make things a lot easier (emissions exemptions and maybe even some safety stuff, but not 100% sure on that one). Typically Canadian and US regulations are pretty close though, so would think it shouldn't...

Keeping new Viper owners SAFE - a How To:

It's really not that high of compression though (only around 9.5 static, would be even less than that when you factor in cam timing), and I'm not sure 8 vs 10 cylinders would make any difference either. I do agree that lift off is part of the problem, much like the Fiero or MR2 of old. It's a...

    Suspension bushings

The service manual also has special tools listed that will press a bushing out with just wrenches. Like gear or pully pullers, it's just a threaded rod and sleeve setup, but ideally sized for the arms and bushings. I picked a kit up several years ago in anticipation as I knew I'd likely have...

    Viper Obsession

Not a bad idea to start it every once in a while, but I'd probably at least let it idle long enough to get up to full operating temperature. That will burn off any water that has condensed in the engine. Just starting it up and shutting it off after a few minutes might be a little ******* things.

Advice on SCT Tune from RoeRacing

To some degree whatever tune is in the car should be able to adjust for variations and mods, though it might not offer the peak performance or efficiency available. The computer has adaptive tuning built in that will let it adjust fuel in different portions of the map under different...

    04 Srt wont start

I've had weird starting issues since my cam swap as well that are very inconsistent. One morning it will start up immediately almost before I've even had a chance to let go of the button. Other days it will crank and crank like it's not getting any spark, but turn over just fine. It doesn't...

Strange Oil Reading on 2013 Viper

Have you driven the car any and checked after a day by any chance? Wasn't sure if you checked it right after you filled it and maybe it was something weird like the oil still running down from the heads and settling and after running or sitting for a while it might even out. Strange it would...

    Wiper Blades?

The gen 3+ wipers are very different. They are basically a single strip of flat spring steel with a blade glued to them. They aren't the typical construction that has multiple arches stacked together to contour to a windshield. I believe the mounting system for them is slightly different than...
