Time for an update:
Lawrences dad fulfilled his late sons biggest dream this week by buying this in his memory.
It is one of 26 Vipers converted to RHD by CHRYSLER in Australia. This is one of 4 sold in New Zealand and is registered new as a 2004 car with new car warranty and demo miles...
Good question - I'm not sure there is a set formula as different dyno's would be slightly different.
There have been posts of back to back runs with a gear swap - and the steeper gears lose power on the dyno - which drives people crazy - because they have the OPPOSITE effect on the road - as...
I should add here that some might remember a post I made late last year about how my best buddy's son got killed by a drunk driver, and what an inspiration this boy was to so many people in his short 20 year life....
His DREAM was to own a Viper after I introduced him to the Viper and then to...
Thanks guys.
Ray took it for a test drive yesterday - the dealership threw him the keys and told him to knock himself out....
silly beggars
hahahaha
Well, Ray called me last night
He got bit by the snake....
the venom has sunk in and the only cure is to buy the only known antedote - the...
Good to hear from you Gary - glad you can get 2 weeks of R & R in - you've earned a break even if this was not the way any of us would want it to happen.
you'll be a new man for the forced break.
Look forward to seeing you again.
If you really enjoyed what you had - 700rwhp will probably get old.
Hard to beat turbos - low maintenance, easy to adjust, sleeper, yet capable of more than you can use if you want to get wild...
you never regret buying the best
as for sanctioning bodies - if the Viper 9 second (or better)...
One of my best buddies is seriously looking at buying a factory dealer surplus stock RT/10 new. It will be registered as a 2004 car but is actually a 2002 converted by Chrysler into RHD in Australia.
He wanted a GTS but the last one sold.
He wants to know about the hardtop - does it leak?
It...
There was a car alarm system - Cyclopse I think it was - anyway it had a revolving code that revolved too fast for a decoder to crack onto it.
It might be possible to find a house alarm with similar technology to prevent further decoder infiltrations.
re guns - Chads advice is VERY sound...
The interesting observation about this question is that a STOCK Viper that can run 120-122mph with nothing but exhaust and K & N's would run 10.8 to 10.9's with a solid rear, a cage to hold everything in, and a good drag suspension setup :headbang:
Try THAT in a stock LS6 powered...
I think kmq99 needs to lay down the crack pipe and back away slowly from the keyboard.
Newsflash - DC wants to sell cars. If all of them end up with a V10 you got a problem with that?
The Viper runs 11's and the GTS3 will top 200mph, the SRT10 exceeds 190mph, and stops like an Enzo - all...
What a nice looking setup and great results!
Pity the poor unsuspecting bee that flies too close to that NACA duct :D that blower at 6000rpm will suck in a stray dog! :2tu:
Take Larry's advice it is sound... and it is the same thing as a torque plate.
A honing (torque) plate simulates a head on the bank of the engine being honed.
why use it?
Picture what normally happens when a block is bored/honed. The bare block is bored out then final honed for ring finish -...
You'll get two stories AB - some have had great experiences with a stock internal engine, others have had disasters - same tuner.
The difference between the two stories could be driving styles, owning a "Monday" car, variations in tune/quality control/packages etc...
but most of the...
now THERE is the voice of reason. Janni is right - with cars cracking 150mph in the standing 1/4 someone will die one day unless they start taking this seriously.... there are far worse things than having a cage discretely fitted through a dashboard. This pre-occupation with keeping things...
mmmm... let's see
if we prepared the 20" bores to straight and round within 0.0002" under operating stresses, lightened the reciprocating mass by 25% by using higher tech/strength forgings and precision balanced them within 0.5 gram of each other, obtained special rings that were prepared flat...
Anything is available at a price for any engine - if they don't have somethnig they make it.
But yes - there are several shops that either offset grind the factory crank which will give you around 522 cubes, or provide an aftermarket billet crank and rotating assembly for bigger engines.
This...
wow - 20" x 20" bore and stroke - THAT is a real mountain motor :headbang:
let's see...
12,300hp @ 330rpm is how much torque?
12300 x 5252 = 64599600 / 330 = 195,756 ft / lb of torque!!
Lethal is 100% correct - the problem is that a lot of machine shops are just way out of their league on this stuff.... it is simple enough, but pick your machine shop VERY CAREFULLY...
I've been UNimpressed with a lot of machine work i have seen here... it seems like any job that is not...
The bearings are like a 2 piece shell that go around the crank journals either nestled inside the main caps or inside the rods.
They are supposed to sit in one spot. They have an oil hole that lines up with an oil hole galley in the block that feeds oil through the bearing onto the bearing...
