Just get a new Valentine One and a good lawyer. The Prime Minister of the country recently got caught riding in a convoy at up to 115mph on the way to a rugby game with impunity. The charged drivers mostly got off, one didn't and filed an appeal. Say nothing and get a good lawyer is key, the...
Re: 600 Hp plus is coming from Dodge soon
want power and be able to pass emissions even under load? easy...
1 - build blueprint spec engines with tight quench (under 0.035" clearance at TDC) and use space age coatings
2 - run more expensive low impedence injectors and higher fuel pressure...
The silver SRT10 finally landed in New Zealand!
Owned by VCA member Ken Vanwingerden of New Zealand (formerly of KY, USA) - this car has undergone extensive modifications at Heffner Performance and is now terrorizing slower moving traffic, local residents, and roadside rodents along a certain...
You done well. :2tu:
re ET and mph - you'd improve on your time if you short shifted slightly rather than rpm'd it almost to the limiter..
between say 5500rpm - 6000rpm depending on the gear. There is a calculation that can be done when gear ratios and tire circumfrance is known to work...
Re: supercharging Gen II which one???
Any blown engine will last until the first time it really detonates properly
Therefore the quality of the install and integrity of the setup is kinda important. After that the tuning is just as important.
done right, serviced regularly, and driven...
Tom that was excellent info. The strength of the rods must be unbelievable to handle both the explosive power levels/delivery(engine acceleration) plus those rpms.
can't help re clutch slippage - I was never involved in that aspect. I can tell you what happens when you set it too tight...
re the blowers requiring more power to turn than a stock Hemi makes - the figure of 500hp absorbed by the blowers in Top Fuel has been bandied about for a few years. It is likely about right - but I doubt anyone has seriously stripped the blower off a Top Fuel engine and dyno'ed it then put it...
Ron gave a great post.
Tom - nobody said a turbo runs on free energy.
Off idle excepted - I disagree that a typical centrifugal blower makes more bottom end than a turbo - but let's agree that it does. So what?
Whatever boost method is chosen, from the moment a race car of ANY motorsport...
:D
it takes high rpms, and you'd never get an OHV engine to rpm high enough to make that power.
Tom - the answer is staring you in the face. Yes you can get a blower so big it can pump as much air as any turbo - but what happens then?
the power will be limited by what the engine can take...
Tom there were some experimental turbo Top Fuelers running a decade or so ago. They gained around 500hp over the blower engines, but could not peak to their potential because back then there was no fuel system in existence that could feed them.
They also had not got the launch issues as...
The long answer would take a while to write.
The short answer (which is a little over-simplified) is - "tradition"
Turbos will make more power in theory, but while they once suffered from "lag", now that has been conquered. Now they suffer from prejudice from sanctioning bodies that...
Hey Paolo
a better fix for those wanting more for less than adding an intercooler is to simply add the Roe Water Injection setup or adapt a Snows Performance unit for under $300.
A good water injection setup that is calibrated right will outperform an intercooler system without any of the...
someone gets it. there'll be more and not all from one place...
the only limit is the castings and so far no one has broken a block. if that happens there are numerous other options.
the limits? a front mount setup could run a solid 6 and be street legal - but not a daily driver in the...
off juice - even if it could I wouldn't - too much heat and restrictions
It isn't designed to do that. They are a great setup for what they are but if you want 900rwhp there are far more efficient ways to get it.
Water injection is a great add on for these setups
haha... it's true that brown stuff can happen. The odds are however that a turbo will last many years - try to find ANY serious big rig without one.
matching the blown turbos are the holders of blowers with seized bearings.... both are subject to manufacturer faults - and is another reason...
The idea is cool, but apart from that - on a Viper functionality is probably questionable. The driveshaft is so short anyway - the weight is mainly in the joints/coupling and yoke - so the gain in weight saving is too small to notice.
If they are not made really well - there have been cases of...
Actually the wing has a muscular look on the SRT10.... at least from that angle
don't be hating people :p
wings and body kits are a very personal thing. Why poke fun at people that like their cars to look more like a race car when they can actually back it up?
God bless individual...
everyone is right
to answer your specific question - it applies to ALL internal combustion engines no matter what fuel they burn.
in simple terms - big torque is important for moving heavy things, big hp is important for moving anything QUICKLY.
5,000,000 lb/ft of torque will move a...
Good wifey!
I can imagine mine doing that too...
in fact I can imagine my wife jumping out of bed fully dressed to beat me to the Viper in the morning :D
I'd have to hurt her to get a drive
just kidding - she knows who is boss
isn't that right honey? :smirk:
OUCH!
Re: Zeroshift: synchroless T-56,
Thanks for the update Nadine.... sorry to hear Phil left - he was a great guy, we too had chatted back and forth quite a bit. They were keen to do a special box for 2000hp (which would make similar torque not just a paltry 1200..lol) - and he was testing a...
