I think the prevailing wisdom is that smaller diameter wheels are lighter and that higher sidewalls transfer less stress to the wheel. The '16 has larger wheels to accommodate larger rotors. IMO the trend to 19/20 wheels is mainly for cosmetic and commercial reasons, and I question performance...
Yes, Mid Ohio was one of my 'home' tracks and I have probably logged over ten thousand miles on it. Generally, you always want to hit the apexes and use all the track, like any track. There are a few corners where a Viper tends to push badly and that needs to be compensated for but not so in a...
Bill, not sure what class you are running but in TT1 (my ACR)-3 any non-DOT slick is a .7 (7%) point deduction. In fact, its the most significant modification factor. I would say its the construction of the tires more than the compound that makes a difference, and you need to set the suspension...
Hoosier R7 is a DOT slick, about 2 sec a lap slower than a WC full race slick and more grip for braking. Cars need to be on comparable tires for a clear comparison.
I think a car needs some very unique and striking feature to be instantly recognizable, like the side slats on the Testarossa. That, and being the star of a TV show or movie helps. ;) I guess the Vipers featured in movies are very short scenes.
One thing noted by Ralph is that he was running Pirelli World Challenge slicks, and the GT3 was on Hoosier R7's, so its not really that fair to compare the two cars in a way, but looks like a great time for sure.
Ralph is still having fun with his GTS, here showing the Porsche world how the new Viper handles the GT3 (with PDK, 8700 rpm, aero):

Here is the same session from the GT3...
Really encouraging race in many ways...agonizing ending. Riley team is on top of the field, just bad luck. When will they know if their ticket is punched for LeMans?
Headers are the best mod you can make to a Viper. Cats totally unnecessary from a performance or sound standpoint on a Gen II. Just put in a piece of pipe and save some $$$. Just be sure to heat wrap everything in the engine bay in the vicinity of the headers, use good heat shields and spark...
As the developer of the mighty Viper V10, he has a place in history that will be forever revered by sports car enthusiasts! He's a Titan and a great guy! I enjoyed our car chat at the track and off. Hope to see a Hellcat in person soon, maybe with Dick at the wheel ;)
Vettes, Porsches and a Ferrari ...the latter two weren't replaced by the Viper, just replaced for track duty when I decided to get more track time in and wanted the reliability and performance of the Viper.
Can you get it to turn with jumpers? Make sure your terminals are clean and tight, battery charged, etc. It sounds like simply not getting power to the starter.
A lot of guys bought the G4 ACR because they said 'no' to TC (aka nanny aids) long before the new G5 was revealed. There is no reason to 'upgrade' if you have all the goodies on your ACR already, unless styling or having the 'latest greatest' (really??) matters to you. "Less is more" is a...
Whatever you've read about G1-4 cars prob doesn't apply to your G5, which is the first model with TC. Drive it hard the way you want and have fun. Just my 2c.
Tomball is a dealer, and so is Woodhouse (who is also selling the kit), so maybe its warrantied? Anyway, its a much desired product (by the Viper Nation) and from a '100% reliable' source. No reason to downgrade it. Its bona fide power upgrades from the top team in Viper racing. What more...
Re: ViperExchange Exclusive Performance Products for Gen V Vipers Supercharger Announ
Excellent result at Daytona, and this is icing on the cake for all Viper owners. Good work guys!
