Re: How Much Are Greg Good\'s Heads?
Greg,
Woodhouse is putting the heads you did for me back on my car as I write this post.
Can't wait to get the car on the dyno when finished!
I hope it gets properly tuned so I can make the most of your fine work....that's a variable YOU can't control...
Danny,
Talk about mixed emotions!
I'm very pleased that Dwayne will finally get his much coveted car (even if it did take public embarrassment of the involved individuals to make it happen).
I'm very saddened to hear about the gravity of Duane's illness. Speaking as a doctor with a wife who...
My sentiments have already been expressed by many here regarding prayers for a possible recovery or remission for Dwayne as well as outrage over Finish Line's treatment of a fellow human being.
Question: Does Finish Line even have "the car, engine or the parts"?
I tend to doubt it otherwise the...
I agree with Joe.
I have a tire pyrometer that I TRY to use.
I say TRY because you have to take the temps very quickly after you come off the track (in the pits) as the tires cool very quickly.
It helps to have a buddy help you.
A pyrometer with a probe that you stick into the tire is more...
Keep all of the receipts for all of the work.
If I were buying a car that had been in an accident, it would not be what you told me was damaged and repaired but what you left out.
I would feel better if all the estimates and receipts and "proof" of damage and repair was well documented.
Even...
I believe with the Mustang you can vary the load so that the engine can be held at constant speeds while ignition and fueling can be adjusted to optimum values at different steady state throttle openings and RPM's.
This would seem to be better for fine tuning road cars where you're not just...
The Mustang is a brake type of dyno while the Dynojet is an inertial type.
As I understand it, the brake type applies a force on the rollers (electrically I think) that opposes the direction of the rollers. It calculates the torque on the rollers necessary to keep the engine RPM steady...
I can't see how they could have something ready by the NAIAS unless they plan to keep the coupe substantially the same as the car they showed at VOI.
Therefore, let's not rush them!
Tom,
Perhaps you can explain to me why the pistons are made assymetrical in size on a given caliper with multiple pistons?
Is the larger one(s) always on the leading or trailing edge with respect to the direction of rotation of the rotor?
What about with 6 pot calipers like Alcon, I believe?
Dave,
I predict 10-15% higher numbers on the Dynojet.
I have my GTS with Woodhouse right now while I wait for Greg Good to finish the heads.
I have similar mods to you (no Unichip) and dynoed 441/492 on a Dynojet. It only dynoed 385RWHP though (I think) on a Mustang that Woodhouse did prior...
I thought about adding the Elise to the stable but I don't think I could go back to a low torque car after the Viper.
There's nothing like getting on the throttle in a Viper coming out of a turn! :headbang:
d.
Maybe the Viper coupe depending upon the final iteration but it will have to undergo a major metamorphosis.
Still thinking about the Ford GT if prices will come down a little. Maybe the 2006 model year?
My GTS is a long term keeper if I don't wreck it on the track
Re: Slight oil leakage \'98 GTS
I have had leaks from most places (including oil galley plugs).
Tough to not have ANY oil leakage if you drive the car hard, in my experience.
Woodhouse finally had to put some fluorescent stuff in the oil to find all the places.
A few track weekends and...
Regarding dynojet vs. mustang dyno, my GTS did 442 RWHP on dynojet and 385 RWHP, if I recall correctly, on a Mustang.
They have been said to differ by 10-15%.
And people often say "where are the police when you need one!"
Interesting side note...I also have a 1970 Challenger and Chevelle SS 454.
I like your taste in cars! :headbang:
Re: 2001 DLM Viper for sale
It was "electric" blue.
You might be right about the color although I bought the car new and chose the blue over the yellow (it was new for '02).
