ACR Joe:
I don't have the details. Dave Jenkins here in Socal repaired it for me.
I was surprised to see that this fix is not so well known.
Perhaps Dave can elaborate here. He contributes to this board.
It may be 100% normal, but who likes hot air blowing at them on a hot day? My AC would blow hot air when accelerating up hills in 6th gear.
I took mine to the dealer and they installed a check valve in the AC vac line (under warranty). The problem went away. Insist on a fix. It's worth it.
When I recently attended the Socal Dyno Day with my '99 ACR, I was disappointed with my 404.5 RWHP run (basically a number that bone stock ACRs attain).
My mods...Borla Headers, Light Flywheel, Mopar/Borla 3" exhaust...should have delivered more.
I have been very suspicious of the stock cats...
It seems we're no closer than many months ago to knowing about our ACR/GT2 harnesses. Here's my correspondence with DC today:
Viper ACR 5 Point Harness Recall Notification
Comments:
---------
I have never been notified about the recall for the ACR Harnesses...
Vip - RT:
Did your wipers come on, even though you did not switch them on?
Mine came on just by turning the ignition key.
I had to pull my wiper control fuse to shut them off.
When I started up my '99 GTS, the wipers came on (without the switch being on) and finally stopped after a half dozen cycles in extended positions. This happened about 6 months back, but they found their way back to the home (retracted) positions after a few cycles of the switch. This time they...
To Greg W and other Vipers:
The Socal Viper Club is going to Cruisin For A Cure.
We plan to meet at Neighborhood Service at 7am and caravan in as a group.
Neighborhood Service is located in Irvine where the 5 and 405 come together.
Exit on Bake Street, go west to Irvine Center Drive...
I go to Pennzoil Lube in Socal. They supply the Mobil One (yes Mobil One), and my total costs are $56.00. I get to watch and it's over in one half hour. If they are in your area, give them a call to check it out.
Re: Anyone\'s thoughts on handling of the ACR vs. Regular GTS
David:
ACR Option = $10,000 (discounted $8800 at your favorite dealer?). Buy it and drive it.
K&Ns and Smooth Tubes = $
Shocks = $$$
Wheels = $$$$
Harnesses = $$
Labor (or Do it youself and sell removed parts?) = $$
Total ?????? =...
The tips do look nice, but they are too close to the fascia at the top. It's only time until they burn away the plastic. Dan Cragin at Santa Monica Dodge fixed mine with a spacer.
Check into it before it happens to you.
Socal:
Thanks for the inputs. I was consistently turning very low 2s for 60 ft. at LACR (same day as you), so that gives me a good comparison.
Ben:
I know I need to still learn several things about technique. It's quite a learning experience.
I would like to express my personal thanks to Said Abu-Qartoumy, the owner of Six Star Auto Center and VP of Racing for the Socal Viper Club.
During the Viper Days Event at Willow Springs (California), I "accidentally" connected with the wall at turn three in my pride and joy. Boy! I was an...
Don't know the reason, but try holding the remote against your chin when you push the button. Range usually increses substantially with you as an antenna. It works on my Jeep too.
Thanks Kurt:
The tiles in my garage are 12" squares with 6" black/white checkers, and are the general purpose (kitchen?) type. You peel off the paper and stick them in place. I think they were about 69-79 cents apiece at the Home Depot.
Also if a tile does come up (with weather or ???), it...
I had the painted floor, and the same grief. I placed "Home Depot" stick-on tiles over the floor, and my problem was solved.
See my Avatar Pic at left.
I have only replaced two tiles at the entrance in 5 years.
