Yup - during the Viper Days Finals banquet, it was announced that the newest snake would indeed be called the SRT/10. Not sure of the significance, but wasn't the funky Neon at VOI6 called the Neon SRT?

IMO, it doesn't roll off the tongue like RT/10- that fourth syllable makes it awkward....

OK, I need a hobby....

I believe ALL "PVO enhanced" cars will have the SRT banner.

All PVO vehicles will be designated with a "S" from this point forward. That was the message that Tony Estes brought back from the finals.

"SRT/10" spells "Certain" to me.

Good, glad to hear it. Anything that indicates the Viper line will continue to advance strongly into the future sounds good to me.

Well, I guess it is semi-official now:

SRT-10 ....... with a DASH and not a slash. Appropriate....
......this Snake will SRT-AINLY DASH from 0-60 in 4.0!

I think that the SRT moniker was used on a supersonic spy plane also known as the Blackbird. Maybe the new Viper will reach hyperspeed also?

GOOD CATCH! The Lockheed YF12-A became the SRT-10 !! SAME exact designation as I recall.... still the highest / fastest ever, too.

THAT would be a photo !! Dodge SRT-10 under a USAF or NASA SRT-10 !....... I think there's one at Wright-Patt ?

Gotta go check my Jane's and see if my memory cells died........

Perhaps you are refering to the RS 71 "Blackbird" fighter/reconnasaince plane. Commonly refered to, and now universally known as the SR71 after a press conference at which then President Johnson switched the alpha designations, it was so fast that it was useless as a fighter as it "took three countries to turn it around" in at full burn. Still holds all the records for speed and altitude. I had the pleasure of dating a lady whose father flew one out of Wiesbaden, the airbase he commanded. His description of entering the twilight purple of the stratosphere was beautiful but he never breathed a word about the stuff we'd like to know about. Bet it looked great in the driveway on a Friday night though...

Paul you are correct. It was also known as the Vulkin I believe. Your memory is correct as it was SR71. I heard that the seams in the fuel tanks were so big because of thermal expansion/contraction that when the plane was on the tarmac it leaked alot of fuel. Somehow I took this original subject off it's intended coarse with the plane reference.

That might be the XB7 Valkyrie built by North American, a prototype that was never put into production. Gorgeous airplane.
The sort of plane that is as dramtically different from anything else as the Viper is in the automotive world.
