GTS/RT Vipers and Vette coupes/targas are allowed to run the Grand sport division without a roll bar. It happens all the time at the Silverstate Classic in Nevada. Here's an excerpt from the one mile rules which say you need to meet the Grand Sport safety requirements:

I think the main difference is the investment required by the manufacturer to gain certification with the California Air Resources Board.
Most kits will pass smog tests cause the Viper burns clean, but in California the visual inspections need to be backed by an "EO" document for the...
Did you gas up in the last few days? Could be as simple as a not-so-tight gas cap. Wratchet it tighter, and if it is the culprit, the light will go out after a few more starts. Several times in my ownership, the light's gone off and not reappeared after 15-20 start cycles.

I think someone bought up the inventory for all these bras and is peddling them on Ebay. Unfortunately they are still pretty costly. Take a look:

I don't have a clue, but those Nebraska Vette guys were making big noise in Ely at May's NORC that they would kick Viper butts. Be sure to advise results!!! We'll be very interested.
John Purner has the Viper set-up of choice. Get his slicks/skinnies/16" wheels package. They show up mounted/balanced. Just bolt them up and go for it.
Here's the link: Purner Wheels
With a TT Viper ask Devon at Unitrax about their Extreme duty half shafts.
Take a look at Drag Times .com
There are quite a few Vipers with various mods posted, so you can compare 1/8th mile times and how they panned out in the 1/4.
Viper Club Members:
Although the SoCalViper.org web site is up, it is displaying 2002 events and classified advertising. Our web hosting service has been discontinued abruptly, and we are in the process of transferring the domain to a new host. :(
Please bear with us. We hope to have...
A Tornado Salesman came up to a few of us at a Car show awhile back and told us he had one that would fit right into our "speaker grille" inlets on the hood.
Re: \"New Viper Owner in San Diego\"
Welcome. Sounds like you're having a good time.
Join the Viper Club (1-800- 998-1110). It's a bunch of fun with really great people, and be sure to come with your snake to the Western Zone Rendezvous in Long Beach on the week end of July 25, and meet most...

You may want to look into the windscreen option for the front.
I've removed a bunch of crud like road tar,etc after trips, and can only guess how many rocks have bounced off the screen instead of my car.
Nice looking trailer!!

I know your long story of course. The NORC was a blast.
"Goof Off" is a good residue remover available at hardware stores (yellow can), and it works very good to remove road tar. WD-40 works too.
Silly as it seems, peanut butter removes tape residue - down side is the smell.
Good luck
With regards to a top speed reduction, I have 3:45s and there is not any reduction that I noted. However top speed is attained in sixth gear, hence the reason for my transmission question in a separate post.
I just returned from a fun week at the Nevada Open Road Challenge. My car has 3:45 gears, so I shifted into sixth gear at about 160-165. I had no problems at all, but several of us chatted later about the durability of running high speeds in sixth gear for a long period (i.e. 90 miles). Will the...
It's 6:30 AM - Weather is super in Orange County. It will be a great day. I think San Diego must be seeing the last showers. Come on up and enjoy the cruise.
Yes Warren, but low in supply. We have sent out quite a few to members, so they will be wearing them on the Cruise. They are Black Hanes T-Shirts with the above logo art on the front. We have 8-9 left, mostly in size L, and they are $20 each. We will have them with us at the event.
We also will...
