    200 MPH Club?

Yes and No. Mechanically, the answer is "no" since the gear ratios are not touched. However, a shorter tire does affect the overall final ratio. You can back out equivalent gear changes. So "yes", you could perceive it as the final ratio to an equivalent of moving from a 3.07 to 3.33, OR you...

    200 MPH Club?

I have been to the mile three times on my Gen III, and getting faster at each outing: 176.5mph (ARH Headers and Tune) 191.5mph (GG Heads/Cam, ACRX Exhaust) 195.0mph (Above, plus throttle body) I am not pushing too much power (about 650whp all motor), but my completely stock drive train...

NEW: SRT VIPER GEN 5 - GEN 4 RACE HEADERS BBG STYLE (Teaser Photos)

Seriously? I simply wanted to know if you were planning to make a set for Gen III heads. Your response was that I should swap out to Gen IV heads, nasty camshaft, race clutch, trans, and diff? I am sorry that my measly 650+whp Gen III on stock block/clutch/diff is not the type of engine program...

NEW: SRT VIPER GEN 5 - GEN 4 RACE HEADERS BBG STYLE (Teaser Photos)

Wow. These look amazing. Too bad that I only see Gen 5 / Gen 4. I would love to see how these impact my heads/cam Gen III. What's the target peak power RPM for the length headers?

    Upgrading throttle body with heads/cam

There are a few rule-of-thumb equations regarding volumetric air flow needs per horsepower. If you take the cross-sectional of our OEM throttle bodies, you will see that it is a bottle neck at 550+whp power levels. Depending on the quality of the head work, JTS' slightly larger throttle body...

    Engine section?

You will find that a lot of us here do enjoy turning our own wrenches. As succinctly stated by Dan (Viper Specialty), a low volume vehicle with slightly more complex engine and engine management system do present unique challenges for DIY's. Most jobs beyond headers/catbacks end up being...

    Should I reset the PCM?

Mark, the OPs car is an '04, and thus they don't have a knock sensor. Not sure that any of the other mechanism in the PCM's feedback loop will protect the engine if knocking is present.

Intimate comparison between Gen IV and Gen V suspension setups (with photos)

Good read. Very surprised at the wheels weights. My rear stock sized HRE 545Rs Invo's come in at 72lbs, and these rear Gen V with Sidewinder II wheels come in at only 56lbs for the rears. The front's are only 43lbs!!! Heck, these new Gen V track wheels weigh less that my 18" SSR track...

    Leather Interior Accents?

Zdigital1's interior is very appealing. I believe his was done by PREFIX. More pics on this thread

    Removing crossover....tone change?

That is called an "H" pipe. It helps balance pressure between both banks, regardless if the flows are going in opposite directions. Very common in corvettes, Fox Bodies and F-bodies. Some folks prefer an "X" pipe to an "H", but an X can't be done since the exhaust flows are in opposite...

New cat back system coming out soon

Glad to see 1 7/8" headers available. Quick question. How do you fasten that slip fit interface between the primaries and the collectors? Will those be welded and v-clamp added later?

GEARING: Let's get the story straight ...

Thanks. The same point about tach/speedo accuracy can be seen in my video linked above. Take glance at the top of 3rd gear (10-11 secs.), and you will see the tach kiss 6500rpm, and I never actually bumped the actual 6200rpm fuel cutoff!!

GEARING: Let's get the story straight ...

You are right Steve. SRT's predicted 206mph Vmax will occur in 6th gear. At that speed, the engine is singing at 5700 rpm.

GEARING: Let's get the story straight ...

The PCM fuel cut-off is accurate. Its the car's tach and speedometer which are off. If you look at the published Edmund's dyno sheet, you will see that they stop at fuel cutoff 6250, or pretty darn close to it.

GEARING: Let's get the story straight ...

I have posted the difference in the Gen V new tighter gearing before, but I keep hearing how much its hurting the Gen V. We all need to understand that gears cannot be optimized for all tracks. Any racer will tell that gearing is chose carefully for track specific scenarios. Here are some...

    Removing crossover....tone change?

I vote to keep the cross-over. I know I am the minority, but I have nothing but respect for the folks who designed the Gen III OEM setup. My setup consists of a heads/cam Gen III, 1 3/4" American Racing Headers, 3" cat-less exhaust system (test pipe), and onto OEM exhaust with crossover...

Monday we find out who is faster at Laguna Seca, ZR1 or Gen V

Ohhh really!!! Are you saying that Randy ran a ACR Viper on PS2? Since when do Gen IV ACR's come with PS2? They ALL came with MPSC.

What are the best Exhaust Tips for stock exhaust?

Why not just use your OEM exhaust tip/hanger? The slip fit joint on it would accept your 2.5" straight pipe without any modification.

    200 in the 2013...in Texas!

I intend to be there and will be rooting for you, but I do think that 190 is a stretch. Remember that stock ZR1s were averaging mid/high 170s or low 180s with good weather. Both the ZR1 and the Gen V have similar power/weight/gearing. Either way, it would be awesome to have a Gen V at the mile...

    3rd Annual MSR-H Track Day: November 18th

I invited some friends to come by and enjoy the Viper around the track. They took plenty of pics, so I thought I would share. Thanks to Marty (older gentlemen on Pic 1) and Jason (Pic 2,3) for sharing the pics. (High res pics available, just PM me): All others in no...

AR Racing Step Headers with GG Heads and Cam

I have a catless setup, so my comparison may not be apples to oranges. But yes, going from my catless ARH with OEM 2.5" exhaust to the same catless ARH but with ACRX 3" exhaust gains me 50hp (both have 3" test pipe, j-pipe, or whatever its called that replaces the cats). I still alternate...

AR Racing Step Headers with GG Heads and Cam

My Gen III GG heads/cam car loses over 50hp between 3" exhaust and OEM 2.5". There are equations for determining volumetric flow capacity for a straight pipe. Dual 2.5" pipes start becoming a restriction at about 550+whp. You can certainly make more power, but the head losses climb quickly and...
