Doc,
And that was a TAME weekend. Join us in CA in Jan. the weather is fine and the track with blow your mind. The 2004 schedule is posted at www.viperdays.com. You'll be as fast as anyone else the next time out.
Re: Why does
If you had the money for a Carrera GT, you would have spent way too much money on a car that gets its butt kicked by the less expensive Viper.
Re: Hoosier\'s , Tire Pressures & Track Temps
Ralph,
With no flame intended, even if you have no track experience, tire pressure is VERY important. If you don't have track experience, start with the pressures that Hoosier recommends. Keep checking your pressures after each session and keep...
Bill,
Glad you like the change. Yes, it can take a little longer until you figure the body parts out. Just to set the record straight for everyone else (you had to get this right or it wouldn't have fit)...but the the pipe you had made is TWENTY THREE AND A HALF INCHES.....not 33 1/2". Right?
It sounds as if the security module (whatever it's called) got confused when the battery became discharged. It thinks that you are trying to steal the car and won't let you in. Disconnet the battery from the car and leave it off for 20 minutes. Reconnect it and then try again. If it doesn't work...
Re: Why does
Phoenix SRT,
You are still missing the point. They NEVER acknowledge that the statistics of the Viper are better than the statistics of a Porsche or Ferrari. They seem to forget the objective parts and only state the subjective parts AS IF they were the objective part. Kind of...
Re: Why does
You guys are so trained by what the car mags have done that many of you are missing my point. I understand that there are intangibles to car ownership. I also own a Ferrari and have driven a 360. My point is that the car mags should represent the Viper FAIRLY, without BIAS. If...
Why does \"Road & Track\" bash the Viper?
For several years I have had a creeping feeling that "Road & Track" never gives the Viper a fair shake. There is always a "BUT" written directly next to anything nice or objectively indisputable. On the other hand, anything Ferrari or Porsche, is...
Jerry,
The area in which I can exploit your weakness is that I don't have a wife to tell me that I can't turn the living room into an additional Viper garage area.
John,
There is no doubt that my garage is an unusual shape. It started as a 2 car garage, with doors facing the north. When I decided to build a garage / bedroom addition to the house, I sealed up the garage doors and put windows there. I then broke through the side of the house, on the east...
I have 4 of the Cytech. I recommend them highly. They are easy to work with and nice guys. None of the lift manufacturers recommend bolting the lift corners into the concrete. I found it hard to believe but listened to them. It all worked out. The lift likes a little play. I'd say, don't worry...
The way they designed the seat doesn't make sense. To see the lights and the fact that they are lit, you have to have the seat in the middle of the room. You cannot use this seat against a wall. Also, the seats themselves should either look more like the Viper bucket seat or a lot less like...
My experience is only with the Hoosier VRL's (and a brief encounter with the Compound A's which I won't even mention). I find heat cycles 1+2 great as Bob said. 3-5 are OK but begin to fall off. 5-9 cycles are safe, however, you could never win a race or qualify with tires with that many heat...
You guys have motivated me to post updated pictures of my garage. The photographer who takes the pictures of our annual Viper Club Christmas Party has agreed to take some shots of my garage as it is today (some new cars and goodies). I will be posting them the beginning of Dec. BTW, for anyone...
Bill and DeeDee,
Don't worry about a thing. Drive your car, you'll have no problems. Don't worry about brake pads unless you are seriously concerned about saving .50. If you do get your pads changed, you may also want to get your fluid flushed, as old brake fluid is one of your worst enemies...
Doc,
As important as how much tread is on your tires is how old they are. If they are more than 2 years old, you're likely going to do much better with a new set. Again, Bobby Archer can hook you up with a set and then balance them for speed. You can save your old tires and put junk mileage...
Doc,
Don't worry about brake pads now. If you go through yours you'll be able to get them installed on your car quickly by Archer Accessories. Everything you need is there. For your first time, all you need to do is showup with your car (and be ready for some serious fun). You might want to...
Doc,
Please come by and say hello. I'm at the Archer Trailer (John Archer's). I have the red Comp Coupe with silver stripes. If your car needs service of ANY kind, Archer will be able to handle it and you won't have to worry about them knowing what they are doing. All the vendors at Viper...
Doc,
Bring your ride and enjoy the weekend. This is a safe track and you'll be running with people of the same experience level as you. Don't worry, they won't just put you out on the track. You'll get lessons, both on and off track before you go for it. It's the most fun you can have (legally).
The Battery Tender is made by Deltran. Look them up on the internet. I think that they may be sensitive to voltage as I have 11 of them in my garage and 3 of them died at once. I suspect that a voltage spike or dip may have been the culprit or maybe they just died. They are about $60 each.
