Wow! Alex Brikoff took some great photos at the car show. Be sure to check out his gallery linked above. It is hard to take good car pictures at a show but he pulled it off.

FROG,
Thanks for the tip. I will have my motor mounts checked. As I said I am not a stranger to the drag strip (although not a pro either) and have also done 1 mile and 1/2 mile shoot-outs with no missed shifts. I'm thinking there is an issue with the car and not me.

My understanding is that there won't be blue with white stripes available in '08 out of respect for those of us that own First Edition SRT/10 Coupes. You will have to order blue and then have white stripes painted on. Correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks for posting those Mike. By the way, the link is :

Also thanks to everyone who put this event together. I know it was a last minute notice type of thing but it was very well organized. The threat of rain kept many cars away I'm sure. Besides the 18 - 20 Vipers there were...
I wondered why someone behind me was honking and waving. I thought maybe something was wrong with the car and almost stopped to check. You should have chased me down. I haven't seen you for months.

P.S. It doesn't look bad in the shade either!
I have done a bit of drag racing but not a lot (my '96 GTS with just intake and exhaust mods). Last week I ran a 12.18 at 116mph with no problems. My reaction time was .212 so I could have gotten below 12.0 with a better hole shot. I went to the strip again last night and made 3 passes. I could...
I'm going down there after work today to get a few passes in. I went last Wednesday and there weren't many cars there so I got a few passes in. My best was 12.18 then I got too aggressive trying to improve and ended up with too much wheel spin on launch and 2nd.
Come down if you can.:drive...
I would love to give it a try if I could find the proper place to do it without getting arrested. I have several older tires that need to be burned up. I spoke with Sam H. when he was here in the Northwest for competition. I was surprised to learn that he used 4th gear primarily except on the...
I have headers, no cats and the old style Borla system on my '96 GTS and, in my opinion, it is the very best sound you can get from a Gen II Viper. I wish I could make my SRTC sound the same.

Sorry Paul, I didn't take my camera. The only VCA member that showed up with his Viper was Bud. There was a lot of attention around his car and he went home with a first place plaque for '75 and newer muscle cars. Thanks Bud and congratulaions!
There were 30 or 40 Vintage GTO's and 5 new ones...
The Northwest GTO Legends is sponsoring their annual muscle car show tomorrow at the XXX in Issaquah. They expect up to 250 cars. It is limited to muscle cars 1961 and newer. I'm taking my '66 GTO for its first public exposure. Entries open at 8:00 AM although an earlier arrival gets you a...
Well, I like the new hood and would consider ordering one for my '06 SRTC. I also like the wheels but would need to see them in person to make a final judgement.
Bob K
I have the old style Borla cat back, headers and no cats on my '96 GTS and I have yet to hear another Viper that sounds better. Add the lumpy idle and you are about as close to an old muscle car as you can get. At wide open throttle it cackles a bit since I removed the cats but that is cool...
CTViper,
I hear you. The same thing goes for old guitars. Try to buy a nice clean '57 Fender Stratocaster now for under $60,000!!! Fortunately I had the foresight to buy a bunch of 50's and 60's Fenders a few years ago and then watch them sky-rocket. I wish I had done the same with muscle cars...
In the past the northend folks have met at Totem Lake in front of the Old Country Buffet and then hooked up with the southern folks at the weigh station on I-5. I suggest we do the same. Let's set a meeting/departure time and go for it.

It is old! And so am I.:smirk:
The GTO started the muscle car era back in the 60's, much like the Viper started the horse power war in the 90's. Both are icons.

I took a short drive today in my newly acquired '66 Pontiac GTO and was amazed at the attention it attracted. A young guy in a big lifted pickup stopped beside me and said "What a beautiful car you have". Two blocks down the road a middle aged man yelled out "Your car is awesome". It has all...
I've gotten 2 tickets in 10 years of Viper ownership - both while driving a Viper. The first was an HOV violation. I was on call and in a hurry to get to the hospital to tend to a bleeding patient. The traffic was backed up for over a mile so I moved into the HOV lane. Not more than 3 blocks...
I have run the mile at the Silver State a few times with my GTS (467 rwhp) and could only get to 148mph. I was disappointed. It is amazing how much power you lose at that altittude (I have heard as much as 25%). If you are at only 220 ft then I would expect you to get close to 160. Let us know...
I'm near Seattle and would be happy to give you a ride. If you want to drive one I believe Park Place Ltd in Redmond/Bellevue has one that they rent out. I know they use to have a red SRT/10 that they rented but I don't know the cost. They have a website where you can get their phone number...
You need a rock solid camera mount and a camera with stability control for best results. I use a mount from Dean Ward. It attaches to the sear belt anchor on the passenger side so the camera sits just over the bulk head between the seats. It was not the easiest install but it was worth it.
Bob...
Interesting reading since I am also considering heads and rockers (and larger throttle bodies). I was told by my Viper tech that with 23,000 miles on my car it would not be a good idea to change the rockers because the stock ones will have caused the valves to wear their own special groves, etc...
