Problem getting into 3rd gear on the drag strip
FROG, Thanks for the tip. I will have my motor mounts checked. As I said I am not a stranger to the drag strip (although not a pro either) and have also done 1 mile and 1/2 mile shoot-outs with no missed shifts. I'm thinking there is an issue with the car and not me. Bob K- Bob K

Which order will they paint the three colors?
My understanding is that there won't be blue with white stripes available in '08 out of respect for those of us that own First Edition SRT/10 Coupes. You will have to order blue and then have white stripes painted on. Correct me if I am wrong. Bob K- Bob K

Problem getting into 3rd gear on the drag strip
I have done a bit of drag racing but not a lot (my '96 GTS with just intake and exhaust mods). Last week I ran a 12.18 at 116mph with no problems. Last test & tune at Pacific Raceway drag strip today
I'm going down there after work today to get a few passes in. I went last Wednesday and there weren't many cars there so I got a few passes in. Bait and Switch at Parts Rack
I have headers, no cats and the old style Borla system on my '96 GTS and, in my opinion, it is the very best sound you can get from a Gen II Viper. I wish I could make my SRTC sound the same. Bob K- Bob K

Muscle Car Meet at the XXX Tomorrow
Sorry Paul, I didn't take my camera. The only VCA member that showed up with his Viper was Bud. There was a lot of attention around his car and he went home with a first place plaque for '75 and newer muscle cars. Thanks Bud and congratulaions! Borla vs Corsa
I have the old style Borla cat back, headers and no cats on my '96 GTS and I have yet to hear another Viper that sounds better. Add the lumpy idle and you are about as close to an old muscle car as you can get. At wide open throttle it cackles a bit since I removed the cats but that is cool...- Bob K

CTViper, I hear you. The same thing goes for old guitars. Try to buy a nice clean '57 Fender Stratocaster now for under $60,000!!! Fortunately I had the foresight to buy a bunch of 50's and 60's Fenders a few years ago and then watch them sky-rocket. I wish I had done the same with muscle cars...- Bob K

Tickets???
I've gotten 2 tickets in 10 years of Viper ownership - both while driving a Viper. The first was an HOV violation. I was on call and in a hurry to get to the hospital to tend to a bleeding patient. SRT-10 at the Maxton Mile
I have run the mile at the Silver State a few times with my GTS (467 rwhp) and could only get to 148mph. I was disappointed. It is amazing how much power you lose at that altittude (I have heard as much as 25%). If you are at only 220 ft then I would expect you to get close to 160. Let us know...- Bob K

Videoing Driving Events
You need a rock solid camera mount and a camera with stability control for best results. I use a mount from Dean Ward. It attaches to the sear belt anchor on the passenger side so the camera sits just over the bulk head between the seats. It was not the easiest install but it was worth it. Bob...- Bob K

Labor cost for removing/reinstalling Heads
Interesting reading since I am also considering heads and rockers (and larger throttle bodies). I was told by my Viper tech that with 23,000 miles on my car it would not be a good idea to change the rockers because the stock ones will have caused the valves to wear their own special groves, etc...- Bob K
