Back in the 80's EMRA ran a local track (Bridgehampton) "backwards" and no other car club or racing association that I'm aware of ever did that there so just for that I'd check them out.

anybody try the "$750 box" from Gold West Performance. It apparently plugs in to the factory data port, then allows fuel/timing adjustments and then '"burns the settings in" even when the unit is removed.
My car mods are only ACR smooth tubes and Bellanger exhaust.
mmmmm...we were contemplating the same thing. A viper tech I consulted thought that maybe a toggle switch could be installed that would lock out 1st using the same functions as the skip shift...he said it would take some "rocket science" but might be possible.
