NEWSFLASH: the october 2005 issue of car & driver is reporting that the new C6 Z06 runs the 0-150 mph sprint in 17 seconds!!! not the 18 seconds as reported earlier in this thread. a 0-150 mph run gives a better representation of a cars acceleration potential than 0-60 or 0-100 or even a 1/4...
i did say that these cars were run on different tracks and i did say that if you give the viper a 1/2 to 1 second head start the vette still wins. yes the vette has more agressive gearing in the rear end and in the tranny ratios. so give the viper the same gearing and 300 lbs less weight and it...
0-100 mph in 7.9 seconds and 0-150 mph in 18 seconds is fast. in fact its faster than the times road and track got for the new ford GT and the viper srt-10 in their latest issue of testing cars flat out for one mile on lemoore naval air stations east runway in california which is near sea level...
thanx for sharing. looks like you guys are as ready as you'll ever be. hopefully the weather will cooperate and the course will be nice and smooth come october. what is the wheelbase on bonners bad berkeley? i have seen your dyno vid of your viper puttin down like 2,000 hp. if the conditions are...
i watched that last night too. they way that GT handled on a road course was way cool. throttle steer the car thru the corners like a sprint car :headbang:
i speed all the time and so obviously i get my share of speeding tickets. i average 2 speeding tickets a year. so since i got my license 23 years ago i have racked up about 46 speeding tickets. i have only had 1 in my viper though. but then of all my cars i own, i drive it the least. for some...
yes, i have this problem but it only presents itself when my windows are open. when my widows are closed this never happens. therefore i come to the conclusion that the exhaust is not coming thru the rear of the car but the side windows when they are cracked or down. oh yea, one more thing my...
i think that the greater the spring rate between the front and the rear of car the more tendency the car has to push, IE: acr suspension. the stock viper suspension would have more of a tendency to be loose as a result of a softer spring rate in the rear. somebody correct be if i am wrong. but...
i won't ever be trading my viper for any car ever. they will bury me in my viper  with that said i will be buying a used ford GT in the year 2008 (save $15k on taxes that way). i will park it in my garage right between my viper and my vette. the only car i own that i will be selling...
oh yea one more thing chuck. if you ever feel the need to pull more than 15,000 lbs. i would recommend this BIG dawg. shes a ford F-650 extreme supercrewzer 4X4. shes packin 900 foot pounds of torque in the form of a caterpiller diesel engine :headbang:
Chuck here is a pic of my tow rigs. the 1st two pics are of my daily driver work truck. it is a year 2005 ford f-150 4X4 with a 5.4 litre gas burnin V-8. its the white truck. while this truck is rated to tow something like 9,000 lbs; the truth is the tranny won't take it and the engine does not...
the next car i will be adding to my collection will be a year 2006 ford GT. after that i will be selling my C5 Z06 to buy the new C6 Z06. the viper stays :usa:
viper versus vette? why pick one? i say buy both. does it really matter? the ford GT out pimps em all anyway. unless of course you have a saleen twin turbo S7 :headbang:
chevy, dodge and ford.......... its all good 4 me :usa:
2 speed powerglide has a 1:1 ratio second gear. so with the 3.07 rear gear and a 26 inch tall tire this car will only do 145 mph at 6,000 rpm's.
SVS must be running a 28 inch tall tire and like a 2.89 rear gear? if they spin it up to 6,500 rpm's i think they can do like 180 mph with that...
currently i have 12 viper wheels and 8 tires. the goodyear slicks are better than the hoosiers just like the hoosiers are better than the michelin pilot cups. :2tu:
30 years from now when you go to barret jackson the vipers that will bring the most money will be the 100 GTSR's that were made in 1998. next will be the final edition acr's built in 2002. in my opinion these vipers will retain the highest value of all the gen-1 and gen-2 vipers.
Re: How many 00\' Red/Silver GTS ACR
218 ACR's were built in the year 2000. of those only 25 were built in the color of red with silver stripes. this is one of my favorite color schemes on a viper. oh yea in 1998 > 11 gts coupes were built in this color scheme as well. :2tu:
i saw 2 brand new saleen S7's at symbolic motorcars in la jolla, california this month. bot are twin turbo's making 750 hp. the salesman said saleen has built 20 twin turbo's so far. apparently they no longer make the N/A version according to saleens website. the cars msrp was $575,000. for this...
the original testing for the protoype viper engine was done with a 360 V8. they quickly realized that they didn't have enough power so they bored and stroked the 360 to a 390 and added two more cylinders thus creating the 488 cubic inch V-10. the 1st two V-10 engines were iron blocks with iron...
here is a dyno sheet of a bone stock ford GT with just 835 miles on the odometer. as you can see it put down 515 rwhp and 483 rwtq on the dynojet chassis dyno. since the car has the engine in the back it is only losing about 12% of its power to the ground. this means its making about 575...
great vid! i have raced wheel to wheel with a original ford GT-40 on a roadcourse in arizona. i have also raced wheel to wheel with a orginal 427 ford cobra on the same track.
