Re: Confused Newbie deciding between 2001 GTS ACR and 1996 GTS ...Man this is tough!!
Here's a fact for all the people too ignorant to know them. According to the viper registry.
Total # blue GTS's made -> 2128
Total # red GTS's made -> 1921

Everybody always brings up resale value. Which is based on consumer hype to begin with lol. BUT... are you buying it to sell next week, or drive for a lifetime? I bought my '01 to be buried in in 50 years...

Blue/white is over rated and tons made. Get the '01 with the upgraded chassis items like ABS and the missing powertrain items like leaking timing chain covers.
Typically you'll want to fill it as much as it will take (engine off and cold), run it until the thermostat opens and fluid moves, then shut it down and let it cool and top it off via the same methods. The Gen 2 makes it easier as it has the fascia overflow bottle that will provide makeup...
Pretty sure you just disconnect the hose and pour in fluid till it won't take any more. But it does sound messy. But hey, you're Gen 1 and I've only done the Gen 2. Probably 10 times dammit.
All the colors on the vehicle should compliment and coordinate with each other. Stripes, base color, interior, trim, wheels, and so on. Not everyone gets that lol.
I had a factory one recored here in the DFW area. It was $400 including going from 2 rows to 3 rows. The tanks are already sized for that. But seeing as you live in a cold climate you can probably get away with just having the factory 2 core rodded and the leak repaired.
Having had...
I have had success buffing polycarbonate automotive lenses before. Used a loose cotton wheel with a common white compound, on a bench machine. You may not get all the nicks out but the improvement will be night and day. Just have to watch the heat from the wheel to part friction.
Black wheels should have black stripes on the car. And no one should put add-ons in their hood scallops at the door hinge area.
Of course, not everyone likes my wheels, so just another 0.02 by Dave. But the black gas cap does look good with the wheels.
I used Bosch 41916. $11.99 @ O'Reilly. They fit perfectly. Nothing wrong with OEM as I preach that a lot on parts, but not wiper blades.
Summary: I paid for what I got.
