Re: OK, WHO\'s car in this video against a Cobra..........(Arizona ????)
I know both of those guys. The Cobra is a 600+ RWHP 03 Cobra, sweet car. The Viper is a Roe Supercharged 2000 with an older Arrow Bottom end (Forged pistons). Both of these guys are super cool and are friends.
The...
A smaller pulley won't cause the car to over-rev. It would just up the boost....
But companies have been sending "ringers" for tests for ages so it could have been fitted with a smaller pulley, only time will tell when they test a production unit...
Gotcha, Ryan has had about 15 other Supras since (no kidding). He had the one he bought from you fixed and owned it for a while.
Sorry I didn't make it to the Pavillions, had previous plans with the GF. I definitely want to check out your car though.
We are also having a small meet for a...
Re: New Quad Turbo
Torque, any info on this comment "Veyron flew in the air over 350kph", I have not heard about this yet.
By the way I bet that "engine specifically built for" the ME412 is basically a derivative of the engine in the S600, they already said that engine can make that much...
Z06, did you have a high HP Supra? From the sig I take it it was wrecked? What TT package do you have on your Z06, LPE? Extreme Motorsports? Just wondering as I'm in AZ as well.
Re: Something doesn\'t seem to add up...
Dr Roof, I'm planning on making it to the TX Supra meet in March, looking forward to seeing your beast running down the 1/4!
Re: Something doesn\'t seem to add up...
Ron, I don't have first hand knowledge of HENNNESSEYY or other TX Vipers outside of TX but a local guy with 2 fast Vettes said he lost ~6 to 8 MPH coming to AZ from TX. He bought one of his Vettes from John Page in TX and bought a Supra from SW.
Tom...
Re: Something doesn\'t seem to add up...
I agree with you Ron. FL, MD, NJ (Atco and Englishtown) and TX seem to yield great numbers at the track due to overall favorable conditions. I bet you are right and Dr. Roof will have some more great runs in FL.
Re: Something doesn\'t seem to add up...
It's not just temperature. Air density (which is not always directly related to temperature as barometric pressure affects this) and elevation make a bigger difference. TX air is AWESOME for making lots of HP. This is why you often see the corrected #'s...
Re: Something doesn\'t seem to add up...
Utah, you are 100% right. Both you and Dr. Roof where making more power in TX than in yourt respective hometowns and that is why the MPH went up. What is happening is that at 4500 feet above sea level your car is making a corrected ~715 RWHP but an...
Re: Something doesn\'t seem to add up...
The formula can't calculate RWHP unless 100% stock Viper GTS's make roughly 490 RWHP. That does happen to be close to what they do make at the crank.
Also the formula they have been using is the same I listed above which years ago was stated as crank...
Re: Something doesn\'t seem to add up...
The calculators assumes a certain loss though the drivetrain. Look at a Viper GTS's number and you will see it doesn't calculate RWHP or it would be HIGHLY inacurrate.
Re: Something doesn\'t seem to add up...
I ran across this formula HP=((TS/234)^3)*W where TS = trapspeed and W = weight including driver about 8 years ago (when I used to drag race my 240SX). The formula calculated HP at the crank and stated as such. It has since being incorrectly labeled as...
Re: Something doesn\'t seem to add up...
Your numbers are also right on the money. If we assume a 3650 pound race weight for the car with driver 145.02 MPH translates to 869 HP at the crank. With a 15% loss that's 738 RWHP. Very close to your stated RWHP on your sig.
Congrats on that pass...
Re: Something doesn\'t seem to add up...
Very true. And cars many times have higher actual RWHP number in TX than corrected RWHP due to "better" than sea level conditions.
Re: Something doesn\'t seem to add up...
Actually his car's MPH at the 1/4 is right on the money. Using a HP calculator it yields ~980 HP (about 834 RWHP) at the crank with a race weight of 3650 pounds and 151 MPH like he ran. At 153 MPH it would be 1020 HP at the crank and 867 RWHP. If you...
I have seen a 100% stock Cobra dyno 377 RWHP and heard of others over 380 RWHP. But even 360 RWHP is roughly 423 HP at the crank with a 15% loss.
Only time will tell with the GT of course.
"Technically" it's only a "ringer" if the car supplied to the magazine is faster and more powerfull than what you can buy. If it makes more power than "advertised" it's just underrated. The Viper seems to be one such car! Who would have ever thought a car rated at 450 (GEN II) or 500 HP (SRT10)...
I won't be surprised to see the production GT running as strong as the C&D test car. Ford underrated the power of both the Lightning and the Supercharged Mustang Cobra. They both dyno well above what they "should". I doubt the GT40 would be any different.
I do think that if the GT is this...
Torque, those calculators are taking the numbers that already calculate for HP at the crank and mistakingly quoting them as RWHP. For instance SW's Supra went 154+ MPH at full weight (~3700 pounds) on a stock bottom end. That translates to 1054 RWHP with the formula that supposedly calculates...
It's definitely in how you "come across". You seem a lot more level headed than the guy that started this thread. For the most part I haven't seen many negative comments towards Supras or Vettes here. Of course there are some such as "It's just a Chevrolet" or "It's just a Toyota" which of...
Definitely a fact of "life on the internet" that if I were to go to the Vette forum to tell them why I like my Supra better they would gang up on me. Same thing would happen on the Supra forums. Don't take this to mean I am sticking up for this guy:)
I see a Z06 as a lateral move to a Supra...
