Longest Trip in The Viper?
I 1999 I drove from Northern Virginia to Las Vegas for VOI-5 (2400 miles). After VOI-5 I spent another week in Colorado and Utah sightseeing, and then drove back to Virginia, stopping in Michigan to visit a friend. Total distance in about 16 days: 7000 miles.- Ron Hickey

Major differences: 96 GTS vs newer GTSs
There are not a lot of significant changes in the Viper since 01. Cast pistons in 00 and ABS in 01 are the major ones. Tire pressure -- there should be a sticker on the driver's door which indicates the correct pressure. Which is 29 psi. Floor mats -- If you have the Mopars, they suck. I agree with Joe and Andrew. While the performance numbers of the 2003 are predicted to be better than the current model's, the styling -- in the opinion of many -- is just not as distinctive. The Best Brake Pads?
A couple of guys in our region have used the Hawk (I don't know what compound) and were pleased with their performance. And their price-to-performance ratio is excellent. Again, it seems everyone has his preferences. Pads that work great for one person may not work well for the next guy.- Ron Hickey

Ken, The EBC green pads are not recommended for track use. They will wear away just too quickly. Your stock pads should work fine for one track event, as long as you check them after each track session. optima batteries for 2001
A friend just bought one for his 97 GTS. Optima recommended the 800 CA Red Top. Optima Part number from the box is 0753-9004-003.
