Great track day with the Vettes. Still need 50rwhp. Ideas?

Addressing the original question, I would think the K&N kit ($300 +10hp) and the VEC2 made by ROE ($1000 +35hp) would be an easy way to gain close to 45rwhp without altering the torque curve much. My stock dyno showed very rich a/f ratio (and still made 461rwhp).

Re: Fastest cars Ummm . . . I think I will take Motor Trends testing results of 12.17. http://www.motortrend.com/features/scenes/112_0306_spdtest/index.html

    Curb and Wheel Rim Collided

I have curbed one of my rim (polished, NOT smoked). I checked prices and repairing. Decided to try it myself, why not? I could still replace it or have it repaired if I botch it up, right? Taped off the damaged area, sanded it, metal polished it, waxed it. 20$ in stuff and 1 hour work. Its...

Has the SRT been to the 'Ring?

Re: Has the SRT been to the \'Ring? I thought back in 10/04 it pulled 08:13.

The first scratch is the deepest....

I also scratch under the chin, pulled slightly over a curb. Not a very noticeable spot on the car, anxiety quickly dissipated. Now when I curbed one of my rims . . . That made me ill. Especially after calling Dodge and finding out replacement rims are $3000. EVERY time I looked at the car...

My local track requires top up unless you have arm restraints.

    Viper Foils Police Laser

Correct for Active radar jammers, regulated federally by the FCC. Incorrect for Active laser jammers, regulated federally by the FDA (eye safety is only real concern) and a few totalitarian states (sorry Kai!). Would have loved to see the look the cops gave when evaluating the '0'mph! In my...

    Performance Tolerances

When driving your SRT's can you tell when the rear is ready to break loose or fishtail? <ul type="square">Usually no noise but you will feel squirm if tires are hot, so answer is sometimes. At lower speeds its easy to anticipate and be prepared.[/list] Does the car feel surefooted especially...

    Tires heating up?

If your tracking on a road course, it takes about 2-3 minutes (usually one lap) to heat the stock run-flats. When cold it gets a bit squirrely motoring out of corners. But once hot, the SRT on runflats seems difficult to power induce oversteer (nice). Everything seems predictable except...

Is this much oil leaking "normal"....

Re: Is this much oil leaking \"normal\".... Nope and nope. Never seen a drop of anything (except water) from mine.

I lost my (or someone stole my) wheel locks

I bought them while getting my first oil change at the Dodge dealership. Inexpensive theft deterrent.

Differential failures and what to do about it.

Its hard to follow all the threads/complaints about the diff, but my cliff-note impression is as follows: 2003's and some 2004's have weak pins that have failed even at stock HP levels. Some 2004's and 2005's have slightly stronger pins that can fail even at stock HP levels. All 2003's...

Tip: Run Flats - experience explained

Can you (or Kai) recall what the "hot" pressure readings were after lapping?
  15. Q

Really dumb question - I am prepared to be flamed :(

Owners manual warns about avoid spraying directly into the vents. I also rinse "up the hood" as you described. What you really need to watch out for is high pressure against the headlights and the rear window (canvas not sealed to the glass). Many have experienced fogging/leakage in those areas.

Any fix for Window Not Closing Properly?

:D Funny! I hardly notice it anymore. When someone gets out of the passenger side, I instinctively re-roll the passenger window down-up. When I get out, I slam the door (from the paint, not the window, less flex) with the EXACT velocity that DC must have tested this POS system with. Works...

A Viper for the Ill-informed Public

Father buying the Viper for the 17 year old son. But only because of the $$$, not the danger. Question: Is it still just as shocking when father buys son the less expensive, but much more dangerous sport bike?

A Viper for the Ill-informed Public

Written pretty clearly on the web site, its all there: 500hp, 3380lbs, "Great structural rigidity for amazing handling", "wraparound seats keep you in place when turning fast corners", "Aerodynamic shape and underbody design for lower drag coefficient". My post was focused on disagreeing with...

A Viper for the Ill-informed Public

No disrespect in light of the tragic accident, but folks I have to disagree. The Viper is appropriately described to the public. Dodge publishes "intense" performance numbers with motor mags testing and compare this car to some of the fastest production vehicles available in the US. These...

    Pulling hard at 100MPH+

Yes, but its around 155mph when you grab that worthless 5th gear all the fun ends for those with stock power/stock 3.07 gearing. 5th gear really crawls (redline=~210mph). Wish Dodge would tighten up the 4-5-6 ratio's.

    Valve train noise

Mine makes noticeable (but acceptable) lifter noise between 500-2000rpms after engine is warm. Thought I remember previous threads indicating the lifters were draining to quickly. Also mention of heavier weight motor oil.

Sill Temp- How hot is too hot???

For me, sill temps seem related to the available "air cooling". Lots of fresh moving air before parking will result in consistently cooler sills. Crawlin through traffic in 90 degree heat right before parking usually results in calf-burning-hot sills.
