Makes me ill just thinking someone might read and do this. Pretty sure I remember reading a thread where someone actually did start the engine on their SRT-4 to help drain oil. Sad . . . and a bit funny.
Scary.
Mine definitely does not have this problem. Latching the hood requires firm pressure or decent "drop" to catch, very solid. Was your hood removed recently for engine servicing?
Published specs reflect rebuild, not oil change.
Yes, drain out 1 quart.
I always tell the dealership when they change my oil to put the last quart in the trunk, it wont need it.

This thread answered my previous question. I am now using the "power saving" mode. Only comment I would make about jumping is to follow the directions in the Viper owner manual. Give the Viper 10-15 minutes while on the cables to get the voltage up before...
I went to the Chicago auto show on Sunday to see the Viper coupe and the C6-Z06. There was a crowd at both cars, but more at the Z06. The Z06 was up on a spinning stand with 2 girls doing a non-stop presentation loaded with performance stats. The Viper coupe was on the floor like ordinary...
Did not think I would need a trickle charger, but something drained my battery quicker than expected, not sure what. Not even enough juice to power the door solenoid. I jumped it and went for an hour spin to charge it back up. Curious if anyone else has had similar experience:
Viper has been...
Just looking for a bit more info about this kit: Thought I remembered pre 2000's Vipers having forged pistons and being desirable for FI mods.
Doesn't the SRT-10 have cast pistons?
No problems using the stock pistons with the Paxton S/C?
Thanx!
I agree. The Viper has become a "benchmark" for many do-it-yourself tuners (and 600cc streetbikes). Several stock looking cars that start with 200 fewer HP have "educated" me. I give em what they want and we both have some fun!
All this talk about snow driving reminds me of a question I had:
Does the Viper SRT-10 have windshield wiper fluid? Last time I was looking for it, I couldn't find it.
Me. But I don't think it's just this forum. I'm convinced the surrogate meeting place of "internet forum" for "car enthusiasts" is a lousy match. To tempting an audience for some (especially non-owners) to resist the attention-seeking behavior of ragging and flaming.
Re: My Wife\'s First Track Day
Thats was a great post!
I keep a plastic bag tucked in the glove box for my wife. It has come in handy.
What kind of car was the "little green one"?
I contributed my opinion to the thread question.
I did not address all safety devices, just the ones related to controlling accelerating forces. Relax dude.
I vote no for any assisted control. I want an accelerator pedal that opens the throttle when depressed. I want brake calipers that only apply pressure when the brake pedal is depressed.
Those 80's Dodges . . . bringing back humbling memories . . . I had an Omni GLH turbo. I modded it. I street raced it. I broke it, I fixed it, I abandoned it, I forgot it . . .
I bought the Viper because I wanted a convertible with extraordinary handling, braking, and big displacement...
7500 miles in first year, never lost control.
Location is northern Illinois (Chicago).
Driven in temperatures down to 0'.
The SRT-10 seems safe for both normal and aggressive driving.
When the dealership detailers prep cars, they douse the tires (and floor). The work area is always slick with the stuff and it will get on the treads. It can take several rotations on real pavement (not polished concrete shop floor) to wear it off.
When light shopping (15 minutes) or light dining (lots of windows) I will leave the top down. When Chicago summers arrive everyone is so happy, you feel safe going topless.
