    SRT Oil Capacity?

The reason for the discrepancy is because the service manual lists engine’s total capacity (11qts) and the user manual shows quantity of oil capable of being changed (10qts). Some oil remains in engine pockets and impossible to drain. Overfilling can result in a loss of as much as 12hp...

    Throttle cable pulled through firewall

LOL! Chuck, This happens to all of our type A (personified) Viper owners. The best solution is to place a one inch thick block of wood behind the accelerator pedal to help keep you from driving WOT 95% of the time. :-)

I see where the oil filter is at, now where is the drain plug?

Dave, According to the service manual the engine actually hold 11 quarts, so one quart still remains under the best of circumstances. It also recommends to get the oil to normal operating temperature before draining. I change every 2,500 miles so I'm not worried about the extra half quart. If...

I see where the oil filter is at, now where is the drain plug?

Dave, You can make yourself step-up ramps in less than 15 minutes that work great for the SRT. All you need is a 7 ft., 2”x 8”, piece of pressure treated lumber (actual dimensions 1.5” x 7”). Cut 2 pieces 28” long and 2 pieces 14” long to use up the whole board. Now nail one 14” piece on...

'04 SRT 10 initial driving impressions vs. corvette

Re: \'04 SRT 10 initial driving impressions vs. corvette Dave, Enjoy the car! I've owned a few Vettes in the past including a 95 ZR-1 that I really had fun with. The ZR-1 was a softer ride but I'd rather have the coil-overs and stiffer suspension for better performance when driving...

What are typical 1/4 mile times / mph for stock SRT-10's ?

Re: What are typical 1/4 mile times / mph for stock SRT-10\'s ? dwhitt, Actually, I had to shift to 4th well before the finish line because of all the lost traction. The tires chirped on the 3rd to 4th shift but it wasn't audible in the video.

    Honest Opinions please???

I have owed a 2000 RT/10 previously. Here's my comparison of the two: 1/4 mile: SRT, slight advantage, for me, 12.1 vs. 12.2) Braking: SRT, far superior Cornering: SRT, far superior Convenience: SRT, far superior (roof, glove box, trunk space) Stereo: SRT, far superior...

    2003 SRT-10s not selling good?

PJS, I sent you a private email several days ago looking for the dealer's number. I have someone interested in this offer. Please provide me with the number publicly or privately, lest I start to wonder if such a deal actually exists.

    SRT 12.16@118mph 1/4 mile video

Gerald, I think the best time posted to this board, for an all stock SRT-10, was John Myrick’s 11.86 at 122.95mph. Remember, there have been 8 years of Gen II production and a total of 8,000 cars. That’s a lot of time slips. The times reported above from Englishtown, were all achieved by...

Vic: Thanks for the response. When the GenIII coupe comes out, it's going to be one hot ride. They should have the bugs worked out by then, and I plan to be the first one in line. :-)

Finally did a decent 1/4 mile in the SRT

Dean: Thanks for the compliment. New England Dragway has a decent surface. I think I need to stop worrying about my nice new stock tires and start smoking them a little more, if I’m going to get any better traction. Keith: Thanks! As you can see from the video, I think the trap speed will...

It may not be a clown shoe, but not bad for a convertible

Thanks guys, What this video illustrates more than anything is the potential of the SRT-10. When you consider the 60’ time of 2.07 sec., for this run, along with the lost traction on the first two shifts, this car is classified correctly as a high 11’s car. Good drivers on this board have...

Finally did a decent 1/4 mile in the SRT

TM I've been working my way down from 6000 rpm's and I may try and go even a little lower next time. At 5600 rpm's you still get a good chirp from the tires on the 3rd to 4th shift and your further from the finish line on this shift, which seems to translate to a little better MPH.

1.7 Rockers for SRT/ Why do it?

Dan, I hate to rain on your parade, but you never responded to my inquiry about "before and after" dyno sheets. Going from the stock 1.75 rockers to 1.7 will alter the HP and torque curves and that could have a positive or negative effect. After my inquiry, I received a private email from a...

Finally did a decent 1/4 mile in the SRT

Ran a 12.16 quarter earlier at 118 mph in my bone stock SRT. My previous best, out of 12 runs, was 12.51 done in very humid conditions. Tonight the air was dry and about 74'. I was very pleased with this considering my 60' time was 2.07 sec. If I can drop the 60' time by .2 sec. then that...
