    Prefilling Oil Filter

I always just throw 10 quarts of Prolong in her. That way if I get caught out somewhere and I have a catastrophic oil leak, I can go another 100 miles or so (results may vary) before she siezes up on me! Hey, if Al Unser can drive a Dodge Viper on a racetrack in the Mojave Desert without oil or...

RT vs GTS, Maybe Open Air Isn't All Its Cracked Up to Be!

I'm obviously in the minority here when I say I like the sleek squatty low profile look of my RT/10 with the top off from behind than the "fat bubble ass AMC Pacer" look of the GTS! WOOOOOAAA!!!.............. :outtahere: Just kidding guys! We were at a car show last year parked by a good...

Lack of Viper in the News?

Is it me or is the Viper being ignored in automobile writeups lately? MSN Auto has an article on "The Ten Hottest Tuner Cars" and mentions everything from Lingenfelter Camaros to the Roush 427R Rustangs to the Pratt and Miller Corvette C6RS to even the Heffner Ford GT. But nothing on Vipers. It...

Anyone in need of Roe 8 lb pulley and belt?

If I had a close-by tuner, I'd be all over it! I have a 6.5 pound setup running the stock VEC cards that Sean supplies with the charger. Is the tuning that much more critical going from 6.5 to 8?

messed up resetting pcm ? help needed

I've done the same thing a time or two. I've never really noticed much difference either way (doing the TPS calibration versus not). It may just take a little longer to relearn. I've had issues with the idle oscillating at a stop but after a few driving cycles, it went away. And I've had that...

Engine stalls after starting when warmed up

Update: Took the car to work today with no issues. A couple of drops in the RPM but came right back up and leveled out. Stopped several places coming back home and it started and idled good each time. Go figure. Maybe the relearn process took a lot longer than usual. Of course sure as I type...

    I think I broke something...

If its oil and not clutch fluid as mentioned, it could be the rear oil seal or seal retainer gasket. Just got finished replacing both on mine a couple of months ago. No oil leak so far. It was dripping off the back of the oil pan though. Thought it was the pan gasket at first but of course it...

Engine stalls after starting when warmed up

Interesting comments by all. I read about the linkage deal in a search. I haven't messed with the linkage since I put the Roe SC on 8,000 miles ago so I can't imagine that would be the issue. This is a '98 RT/10. IAC was replaced about 1,000 miles ago because I screwed it up polishing it on a...

Engine stalls after starting when warmed up

Not sure what the issue is but first, I've been having problems with the idle dropping to near stall, then coming back up to 550 or so, then cycling back and forth a couple of times before finally settling on normal idle when I push the clutch in and coast up to a stop. Now, when I stop and shut...

So looks like I,m going to replace my clutch.

I did. Everything fit except of course the alignment tool. As per everyone else, I just eyeballed it while holding the tool as near to center as possible when tightening the pressure plate bolts. Otherwise, the pilot bearing and throwout bearing that comes with it worked fine. LUK clutch kit...

    Clutch Chatter Revisited

Yes it was. From an outfit called "Drivetrain_Parts. It is a LUK REPSET part# 05-088. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390086145530

    Clutch Chatter Revisited

I heard you couldn't or shouldn't resurface these flywheels? Or at least that's what I recall the manual saying. :dunno: Pilot bearing is new. At any rate, out of more than a couple of dozen clutch changes I've done, three of which were on C5 vettes, I replaced or resurfaced the flywheel on...

    Clutch Chatter Revisited

OK. As indicated in my previous thread, we (wifey and I) changed out the clutch while fixing a rear oil seal leak. The old clutch was working fine but per most recommendations, we went ahead and changed it out while it was all torn apart. Got everything back together and bled the slave. Now I...

    Wife is a Viper mechanic!!

I must admit, when it came time to torque the bolts, I took over. Not that she couldn't do it with the right length of breakover but I used the torque wrench on everything. She did manage the impact wrench pretty good when it came time to break the flywheel bolts loose though.

    Wife is a Viper mechanic!!

So I finally decided to fix the nagging oil leak I've had for a few months. After replacing the oil pan, gasket, wrapping teflon tape on the oil pan bolts, and every other trick known to the viper world, it was concluded that I either had a leaky rear oil seal or the seal retainer gasket had...

Gen II Engine Compartment Upgrades - Photos

"Cayman, who supplies the rocker covers - either polished or chrome - they look really good. Is that something Roe offers?" Actually, they are polished stainless overlays.:smirk: MADDMAXS57 - That engine bay kicks arse! :2tu:

Looking for Opinions on an F1 Racing DF Clutch Kit??

I'm running a Roe SC with a mild 6.5 lb pulley. I just ordered a LUK clutch kit that appeared on Ebay yesterday. Hopefully, they actually have it in stock. $219 shipped:2tu:.

    Wrong Throwout Bearing??

Got the LUK slave cylinder through Autozone. $195. Without the bearing. I see them elsewhere now for less and includes the TO bearing. Oh well.

    Wrong Throwout Bearing??

I'm getting ready to slap in a new clutch when I fix my rear oil seal leak. Has anyone confirmed that the throwout bearing that comes in the LUK clutch kit #05-088 is the wrong bearing? In searching, I found some old postings where some claim that it is. I have a new LUK slave cylinder but it...

Looking for Opinions on an F1 Racing DF Clutch Kit??

I bought a Luk/Exedy clutch kit off of E-bay being marketed by an outfit known on Ebay as "Gripforce". They're out of California and the company name apparently is Speed Solutions International. Anyways, after paying for it, they e-mailed me to tell me Exedy left out the clutch disk in the kit...
