Paid $86k ($108 sticker) about 8 months ago for 2013 with track package. Not interested in selling anytime soon nor trading up. Drive it as a commute vehicle most days (although very short distance) and enjoying every mile. I would have much preferred there was no 2015 or even 2016 viper, then...
You should make the same post on Lambo, R8, and MacClaren sites or maybe you have. I'm 6 hours drive from closest Lambo dealer, 100 miles from where I bought the viper, so my choices are limited geographically (warranty, servicing etc) and I have no experience with these other cars, but I would...
Renting a condo while building. Not sure what the lip is, must be a standard thing. I most often scrape backing out and pulling in (both at an angle). Had the Gen 5 on a lift for oil change and it's the plastic guards that are making contact with the cement, not the car's body. My gen 3 scraped...
I don't read car magazines. Don't trust them to be unbiased or accurate.
I daily the Gen 5 except when the forecast is thunderstorms and heavy downpours like today. I too drive it like a regular car. Coming from a Gen 3, I find this one to be a lot more user-friendly and forgiving.
It is...
Thanks for posting
As a Gen 5 owner that putt putts along at the speed limit and never races, I am thankful to those that do track race their Gen 5s. Very exciting viewing....have to rest a while...let my elevated heart rate calm down.
Agreed.
It's a car that evokes deep emotions. In my SUV today because of stormy forecast and really miss the thing even though I drove it to work yesterday. Just cannot get enough of it. ...Eight months of ownership and I still walk around it after parking, not to inspect...to admire.
Most viper owners or potential owners do not post on car forums. Posters represent a tiny minority of the viper community. Same thing with any car forum, so the views represented here do not necessarily coincide with those of the silent majority.
All the negative posts mean that a whole lot...
Most of the criticism is towards the marketing/sales and not the car. That is certainly the case for me. I drove it to work this morning (50%+ commute vehicle) in light traffic and at or slightly under the posted speed limits. Enjoyed every mile.
Agree on both points. I am sometimes reminded...
Loyalty?????????? Where was dodge's or Fiat's or whomever loyalty when they ditched the long-standing viper crowd to seduce a higher tier audience with $120-140+ vipers. Well that was an epic fail and I wonder how some owners that paid the elevated price of admission feel about it now, with such...
Too bad they couldn't just wait a short while longer and release the next version with the forced induction (if it happens?) and include the TA 2.0 tweaks. I don't race my Gen 5, so don't truly appreciate what the upgrades mean. Could be significant for those that do track the Gen 5? Love the...
Marketing disaster.....but then if the same folk are in charge why not
Don't want a new Gen (6) to further devalue the 5. Improve the 5 with modest boost and offer retro kits for 2013-2014s, to elevate all the 5s to same level if desired.
Don't want a 2015. Why add even one more relatively unchanged Gen 5 to an already bloated inventory? Get it right with a lightly boosted 2016 (and retro kit) or let it go.
I wondered what that was...lol
My 2013 srt base is a commute vehicle (rain and shine, except nasty stormy forecast days). It's always getting dirty. It's been really clean twice....day I bought it and I had it hand cleaned once. Otherwise, I take it to a superpray place, every few weeks. I...
It's hard to justify spending that kind of money anyway, on any strict 2 seater, with such limited utility. To me it is not about which car makes more sense, because logic is rarely present with such a purchase. It's pure emotion for me. I don't feel it with the C7Z and drowning in it with...
Like many viper owners and likely potential owners, I don't drive fast but really enjoy driving a fast car. The two most common questions asked about my Gen V are: how fast does it go. what's the horsepower? So I want both...fast car and bragging rights. It's got nothing to do with making any...
I value the opinion of non Gen 5/viper owners maybe even more than folk like me that already have one. There are owners, potential owners, those that might become potential owners, those that are just interested enough to post and participate in debate. The least important category right now are...
Data??????? I'm in R & D....do enough research at work thank you very much.....NO I have no data, nor will I be looking for any. Don't see a whole lot of statistical support in your posts, but they can be quite lengthy and I don't read through the really long ones.
I have my Gen 5 and...
Not that folk are going to buy the charger/challenger instead of the viper, but it hurts the viper's halo status which could move buyers away from the viper toward an alternative sports car. The viper must have more hp than its cousins....it's a perception thing.......... bragging...
Coming from a Gen 3 coupe to an srt Gen 5, I find the exhaust tone much better. The overall daily driving experience is so much improved, that I have not focused on the sound. Don't notice any tire noise. Mine has the track pack....not sure that makes any difference? It's still a bumpy ride like...
Starting at the above and correct price point and significant price-reduction to reach the same number will usually produce very different sales results.
Many are waiting to see if the downward pricing continues and also heavy discounting does not help the car's image.
That's what I paid about 6 months ago. As far the Z06 goes, great car of course, but by the time appearance mods come out to make the regular C7 look like the Z which always happens, the Z will blend in with the other 25-30,000 C7s. For many like myself, the very low production status of the...
Looked at some of the videos.....awesome. As someone who will never race his Gen 5, I really enjoyed watching someone who does.....quite a thrill actually. I got a little anxious a couple of times and found myself gripping the mouse tighter.... Closest I will ever get to see how these cars can...
I am not as impressed with this Ralph guy as others. When he made the statement about there being an internal hp war (referring to Hellcat vs viper), I thought wowwwww. another marketing miscue, like reporting the 5 extra hp. Why would you even want to mention that or have it known? I have zero...
interesting,,,,question. I wish the car had 710 hp when 400 hp would be more than enough for my driving. It's more than what we want.....many potential buyes feed off what the general public have come to expect from a viper. The ooooos and the ahahahahas for a car that had savage good looks...
