    The SRT experiment is over.

Traded my 06 coupe for srt base. It does not have to be one way or the other. It's a car that I drive often and expect to put 10,000 miles a year with it, so it has no collectible value for me. The SRT badging on the front side, distinguishes it as the base model, that's all. Having a Dodge logo...

Anybody Have The Scoop On.The 2015/2016 Viper??????

I suppose it depends on how car will be used. I bought my g5 without a test drive and 3000 miles later, I can't get enough of it....so much fun...so much easier to handle than the G3 and 2 I had. But then I am not a skilled or demanding driver. I get in, commute the very short distance on...

    Headroom

Cheaper to modify the helmet. You know...make the top inch removable. I am 5'10 and still bump my head ever so slightly getting in and out sometimes (girlfriend certifies that my rearend is about average which is good...alas she also certifies that frontend is average too). Going to try that...

Gen 5 owners: What has pleasantly surprised your about your car?

I also have a 2013 with track pack. I don't street race and car will never see a strip/track and I actually have no use for the track package, but that's the way the car was offered. There are too many ways that this car surprised to mention. From its looks, to comfort, to its daily...

Drive one and you will buy one!

It's an almost daily driver for me. A forecast of thunderstorms or heavy rains keeps it parked, otherwise a most enjoyable commute vehicle. I bought mine without a test drive. Its looks alone completely seduced me.

sad news...viper plant shuttered until end June.

What happened for no production years of 2007, 2011, 2012..... is this just history revisited? I fully expect this low production/no production trend to continue and not bothered by it.

    Track Pack or Aero?

Mine came with the track pack. Was not a wanted nor needed option....just came with the car. Means nothing to me, except wheels look nice. I would not chose aero since I don't like accessory plastic pieces.

Is Gen 5 more suitable as a daily driver than Gen 4?

No matter from what angle you approach this, the viper will never be a low profile car. It is however an easy car to drive for a 2 seater with 640 hp. At 60+, getting in and out is becoming vehicular yoga. Depends on your definition of DD. I would chose an automatic to commute an hour through...

Is Gen 5 more suitable as a daily driver than Gen 4?

Gas stations are the worst. The car gets mobbed. With the word "viper" written only across the gas cap, lots don't know what it is. At work, a young woman asked who owned the red Ferrari. I replied that it was probably my red viper. She said....no...it was definitely a Ferrari...I recall the...

Is Gen 5 more suitable as a daily driver than Gen 4?

This morning, I just drove 200 miles round trip to run an errand in the rain. I take it to work an average of 3 times a week and park it among a 100 other cars. It is much much more user-friendly than my Gen III. The 3.55 gearing makes it more responsive and the "return of the nannies" has...

    SRT Prices

I bought my 2013 SRT base with track package with 1000 miles. Paid $46k + trade of 2006 coupe with 13,000 miles. So that would be in the high 80s.

VIDEO: SRT VIPER vs. C6 Z06 Roll Race...

It's possible that due to the curve radius being larger for the outside lane, whichever car is using that outside lane needs to travel slightly faster, to catch up or pace with the car on the inside lane, so that both cars appear to race from the same point on the straight. Another factor might...

difference between SRT, GTS and the TA?

Notice on my base SRT sticker it says track package added. How does that fit in to the above. Seems to have different tires & brakes. Is it somewhere in between base and TA?

    The Gen V doesn't suck!!!

That's right. They can change the oil etc. Finding how far away is the closest authorized V dealer will factor into the final decision and cost. If enough 13s stay on the shelves into early 2014, the price for a base V may drop a tad, or maybe very low mileage used ones may start appearing...

    The Gen V doesn't suck!!!

Probably have to go about 60 miles each way for the right dealership for the V. My interest in the V is about 6/10. Just seeing one in person would likely increase my interest level greatly. 90+% of my driving is very short distance (5-10 miles). I drive the III to work 2-3 times a week. It...

    The Gen V doesn't suck!!!

I have a constant contact there that said it is unlikely that the dealership will buy into the V with tech training/tools etc. They sold the II, III, IV so no issues there. I am thinking of a 2010 newish IV, but started to look at similarly priced Porsches. As far as the Gen V forum. I find...

Do you find yourselves always "dreaming" of other Vipers?

A Gen V...any Gen V since I have yet to actually see one. Pics and vids never compare.

    The Gen V doesn't suck!!!

My big disappointment is that my single local Dodge dealer where I bought my Gen III, will as of now, NOT be selling the V. That means they will not be servicing it either. So it is either a IV or maybe a Porsche? Shame that the V is not an option any more.

No Viper in Road and Track Performance Car of Year???

Guess I will take a hike too, since I have no intentions of ever joining the VCA. The "enthusiast" term is good enough for me. Being on my second viper and looking forward to my third in early 2014, I am an enthusiast only. If you limit opinions/posts to VCA members only, intellectual inbreeding...

    $65K

Depends also on your driving style and needs. If I had to commute in heavy traffic and the car was going to be my DD, an automatic corvette would be tempting. My Gen III is not my DD, so for the raw driving experience, I would go viper. I don't speed nor race but it's still a thrill at 55 mph.

Old Men Seem to Own Vipers, Why???

Hey Fatboy I was also riding around the UK (London) in my 20s (late 1960s-1970s), but it was in Triumphs (Herald, GT6, stag). To the 75 year old.........awesome. I figured at 62 I might be getting close to my last two seater. You give me hope.

Having trouble actually finding a Viper

Very difficult to find a viper you can trust. I was prepared to buy unseen from a reputable source (only about three that I would trust and none of them close). I got lucky with my Gen 3 coupe, I had a Gen 2 before. A local doctor bought it new in 06 from the local Dodge dealer (20 minutes from...
