My '97 does the same thing and has since day 1. I've never had much success with "idling." I try and avoid low speeds but when necessary, I spend a lot time on the clutch.
Per their web site, it's listed at $68,500 and they will "only" charge you 6.99% financing. You still have to repair/replace the power brake booster and intake, and whatever else needs attention from years of sitting.
I talked to the seller of this car as well and it sold within a few days of the listing to someone the seller knew previously. This one sounded like an exceptional car.
This looks like the same one that was recently sold by Prime Motorsports in Chicago and was previously discussed here. This is the one that had the paint peeling off the intake and rust on the power brake booster (which it looks like you can still see in one of the Legendary Motorcar photos)...
My belief is there are more trading hands than most people are aware of. One with < 2000 miles, original owner sold last week for mid $50's. That seems to be the "benchmark" for very low mileage '96 GTS's at the moment. I do believe these have more collector value than any other Viper but I...
Despite the rhetoric from both organizations, neither Viper club has followed through on their original stated commitments to the membership for 2014 (at a national level). It's clear that the strength in the Viper community is in the local club(s) and you should find a group of enthusiasts...
You want what are called jack drive garage doors openers. The doors will retract at ceiling height. PM me if you want info on the brand I have and/or photos. They work great and are only slightly more expensive than traditional garage door openers.
Very similar comments on both sites so it isn't clear why you'd be calling out one site over the other? Maybe the same people are posting on both sites or maybe it simply represents the sentiments and personalities of the folks that are active in the forums. There is good and relevant content...
For those planning on going to the Viper Homecoming it appears the plant will not be operational despite earlier reports that it would be. That's too bad as a tour of the plant and having the chance to speak with the professionals that actually build the cars would seem to be the highlight of...
Was this e-mail sent to DODGE Viper owners or SRT Viper owners? Dodge used to do a good job communicating with and cultivating their Viper ownership community. That behavior disappeared long ago and I have to believe it contributes in some way to the disappointing sales performance of the...
Simple answer is yes for any collector who values originality. Lots of other factors influence value but originality is near the top of the list. Even more important than mileage.
I was at an estate auction recently and a '96 stock GTS with about 6500 miles went for mid $40's. Paint was very nice. Engine area and undercarriage were very dirty and there were some components/fasteners that were discolored due to oxidation. Interior seemed a bit worn for the low mileage...
Save those tires (don't burn them as suggested). Replace them but save them. Someday you'll be happy you did. Original tires are gold to a classic car collector, particularly with such low miles.
Price listed on their web site is called out as USD so no savings on conversion rate. A savvy buyer would want to confirm import duty as well before agreeing to a price. This is far from one of the lowest mileage '96 GTS's around. I think you'd be surprised how many of these with sub 500 miles...
These guys are way off on the price, particularly if you want to import to the US. It would be 5 years before the car was worth the initial cash outlay in today's dollars
It's been for sale for quite a while if that tells you anything.
"NO one" - Really? I'm with Steve-Indy (actually his wife). I have the Borla on my '97. Sounds great and someone could take it back to stock if desired. The Borla does have a drone but that is not unusual for Borla. Borla has a bit "throatier" sound if that is what you want. The Corsa is...
A nice '96 B/W GTS just sold on E-Bay for ~$32K. Not mint but only 18K miles. I think anyone buying one of these as a "driver" car is going to pay sub $40K at best and the $32k price is probably very reasonable for the buyer and seller. Collectors may/will pay more but that gets very...
Greg:
Personally, I like the "fix-it" stuff and the club related stuff. I realize there are many members out there with varying perspectives so you are not going to make everyone happy. The magazine is a very nice and important part of the membership experience. Like many others, I also have...
Considering all that has happened in the past 6 months I think the folks responsible for putting out the magazines met expectations at a minimum. Yes, they could have been thicker, had more regional content, etc. but magazine hasn't been all that great for a few years and the last two issues...
Hagerty has a #1 condition '97 GTS at $41K which seems pretty close to market. I've found their data to be reasonably close from a buyer perspective. I wouldn't sell my '97 for that price but my car isn't for sale eat any price today.
