Not to forget a new generation of Corvette is about to appear, so if the vette does come in second, its not likely to stay there very long when the performance models of the C7 hit the floor.
.. which if the Viper does not take this race would be a big downer on it, as newer vettes will further...
Get a data logger on there and check MAP pressure against Atmospheric or at Key on.
If at WOT you run a vacuum then there is your answer. You need less intake restriction. A data logger will help. Generic OBDII may do the trick.
A 60' time would have been good you can tell a lot about how it was launched right there. With those tires Id be expecting 1.9 at least, if it was 2.0 or worse then sack the test driver!
Throw an exhaust on it perhaps with a bit of intake tuning and it should hit 700fwhp
I have this same argument with guys who FI their v8's all the time. They go slower than me faster. Zero traction, un-useable power.
Whats important is how it puts the power down. The viper torque curve will...
Im not surprised you short fatties fit ok.
Sadly folding 6'6" @ 200lb of myself into a gen2 wasnt pleasant. No knee clearance and a severe slouch in the chair with a tilted sideways head was the best I could do.
Ill be reviewing things in the Gen5 when I can find one to sit in. All going well...
Some of the earlier videos, especially the one dedicated to the engine state head coolant passage changes as well as block changes.
But what these are in detail who knows.
I might see if I can find a mopar dude at PRI this weekend while Im casing out the place.
Viper sales are so small I doubt they hardly dent Chryslers overall economy rating. And IIRC its overall efficiency which they need to achieve.
So with the rest of the fleet getting better numbers each year it means the viper can grow to 9L in Gen6 form :D
If this model is as good as they say...
They usually like the muscle cars even if they abuse the older leaf springs in the corvettes and pushrods etc. They like the fun ride.
Handling can let yank cars down, so on that front the viper should be received ok along with the new interior etc. I think it will do well.
Thats crap if the SRT doesnt give the same headroom.
RoyV how tall are you?
Im 6'6" and was hoping the SRT also had the extra headroom!
I dont want to have to stump up over $20k for 1" more headroom.
