I have a problem with Pre-ignition in my 97 GTS...... even though I drive it hard. I read where solutions involved additives to remove carbon build-up, as well as colder plugs. I have a question on intake gaskets...
If the engine feels like it is missing at times, the intake manifold gaskets could be leaking. Take a good look at the gaskets, which are viewable between the intake manifold and the heads. If the gaskets look "wavy", versus straight, you may have a problem.- Robert Dyck

Pulsing power when trying to drive at constant speed.
mickster ....... I think these guys are on the right track. I had the exact same problem with the 97GTS. Check the intake manifold gaskets for leaks. If the gasket is replaced, it should be retorqued after warm-up. The OEM torque sequence and procedure is important to follow. (Note that mine...- Robert Dyck

Cat Removal
I've heard many different opinions about what happens to fuel management when the cats are removed, and the differences between the 97 and 98 and up models. I have a 97 GTS ...... can anyone tell me with certainty what will happen if I remove the cats? Thanks.- Robert Dyck
