Looking for Gen 3 with blown motor

Bonkers, the reasons he wants a car with a blown motor (he made that pretty clear above) are his. To question his reasoning is not very nice. An inquiry, sure, but to start spouting advice isn't very good. I know if I was going to build a race car with a modified engine I might want to start...

    Drag Racers-When do you shift???

The SRT is quite different. You want to be as close as possible to fuel shut-off for best times. That said the ideal shift point is probably just shy of 6000 rpm. I would set a shift light for 5800 rpm to allow for a 200 rpm rise/delay. Another question is how you wired in the Raptor. I have...

The question that most can't answer correctly

Re: The question that most can\'t answer correctly Small block. It is based on the 318/360 which was a small block.

3.08 to 3.55 what does it cost you on a dyno?

Gears do not create power.they only shift the speed at which the power peaks in each gear. For every situation there is a preferred fd gear and trans gears.

    Sentry Guard warranty

The dealer sold you a non Chrysler related warranty. Chrysler is not involved - it was between you, the dealer and the warranty company. Dealers (and electronics stores) try this all of the time. It is buyer beware. The only person responsible to evaluate options before buiying is the buyer. I...

K&N intake - is it better than stock?

Ignore the hole thing. It was only on earlier units. K&N fixed the problem.

Does you SRT-10 run this Rich? Plus a shameless pic.

I get water splatter on the floor, Some carbon coloring that the water picks up on the way out the exhaust. But it appears to be just water, a normal by-product of combustion. Once the catalysts warms up the water is in a heated state and does not condense quickly. Richness has nothing to do...

    Paddle Shift

You never know, maybe some here do work for companies that do just that. Some may even "plant" seeds for thought for debate. You just never know.

Damn, you are absolutely right. It takes a mere fortune in investment to install radio A instead of B, and only those other companies can do it. Certainly not in the cheapest Chrysler car available. Oh, no, that is not right. The Viper is the ONLY Chrysler that you do not have a radio option...

How many Z06's? And they make a unique frame, engine (which must mean unique control systems), body panels, etc. Their volume is in the same realm as the Viper. At most 2 times as many. No sarcasm intended. They are doing one heck of a lot with the Z06. If DC made half that effort the Viper...

    Paddle Shift

You are absolutely right. No small volume producer can handle complexity. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Porsche, TVR, Saleen, Corvette, Ford GT, etc. can seem to do it. Correct? So what the heck is it about the Viper that makes you think they cannot do what everyone else is able to do? For...

    Shifter knob install help

Remember righty tighty. But you have to look from the end you are moving. In this case visualize being on the trans looking up and rotate CCW.

Braking is something that the car does now. So ABS is an extension of something the car already does. Lets expand on that as your premise. Active handling just uses the braking to independently brake a given wheel to improve control. If you had 4 brake pedals you could do the same thing (if...

    Paddle Shift

Okay, we are having a pretty good discussion on this topic, not specifically on paddle shift (which I abhor personally). If we listed all of the more common driver aids/conveniences that are not in line with a purist perspective we would have (my first shot at this): Power steering Power...

    Paddle Shift

Well if the purists are in control why do we have 19 inch wheels that weigh like a truck, with NO performance tires available on the market. Or an oil system that requires you pay another $3000 for a comp coupe oil pan. Or how about exhaust crossovers that add weight and improve the sound (at...

ZR1 cost MORE and had less performance. It also only overlapped a few years. The 911 turbo has never been direct competition. Cost nearly double and quite a different car. And yes, the Viper plant had down periods before 2003. In fact it was due to slow sales that they started creating the...

    Paddle Shift

Gee and market conditions and competition had nothing to do with things. Oh, and how well were Gen II sales going in the last few years before the Gen III? Please tell me the average number of days in inventory for that period. Basically until 2001 there was nothing on the US market that...

    Ceramic Side sills

Well, it may indeed be ceramic. As you indicate it was a white powder that would be aluminum oxide, which I believe is classified as a ceramic. A few millimeters deep??? I doubt that is possible as the thickness is less than a mm to begin with. Are you sure you have stock aluminum sills, or...

    Paddle Shift

You are correct. Of course they are also not buying the new Vipers either. And many are so PURE that they only buy used Vipers in the first place. Not exactly the buying public DC is seeking. I have no understanding why having an ability that is completely defeatable, or one that is optional...

    Differences in '03 through '06.........

Re: Differences in \'03 through \'06......... Once your car is warm, and assuming you are not on the track, the oil temp should track right with the coolant temp. Therefore you should see right around 200 most of the time.

It's like being addicted to plastic surgery

Re: It\'s like being addicted to plastic surgery That car has been around for a few years. Autoform created it I think back around 2001 or 2002. It looks better in person but still not my cup of tea.

    burning smell under the hood?!?!?

If you have a stuck injector the catalyst on that side will be very hot and may smell. Just a thought as that would also answer the fuel question.

I'm purchasing rims from CCW and need info.

Re: I\'m purchasing rims from CCW and need info. Not sure that bigger is better. You need some sidewall flex to keep the tread in optimium contact. Now the lack of sidewall flex will improve turn-in response, but not necessarily lead to improved cornering capability. I say ask this question...

    What Model Year Is Worst...?

The only "worst" I know has a dolphin. So your statement about old and red is correct for that ONE specific car.

Pre 2000 Vipers, You are now FLAKIES in my book!

It sure is funny to read the reactions of people in this forum. The Gen III side has received this type of BS on an ongoing basis since 2002 (yes a year before the cars even were on the road). Hopefully these posts will lead to a more friendly Viper site for all Viper owners.
