    I CRASHED MY 04 VIPER

Just noticed he is in LA. Can't be the temps then can it? I find the SRT much more controllable than a Gen I/II. If you have a control issue with the SRT you would have an extreme problem with a Gen I/II.

    I CRASHED MY 04 VIPER

Okay, someone here seems to be a cat in the hat fan. Been too much about car crashes lately. Way toomuch. Must be a cold tire thing as traction is much worse and so is road quality. Ugh! If only we could be driving too!

MOBILE 1 10W-30 "Extended service" -Snake oil or fluff??

Re: MOBILE 1 10W-30 Read your owners manual! If it states that a specific type of approval is required (i.e. ILSAC, API or ASEA indicator) then you are potentially jeopardizing your warranty to use a lubricant that does not meet it. Same with extended life. if the manual states a service...

WELL JUST OVER 300 MILES AND ALREADY HAD PROBLEMS

Red, this is your quote that I was responding to. If I read you right I must be crazy/stupid or lucky. That indicates to me that you believe the preponderance of SR-10's have had major reliability issues. I only say that you are speaking from a very small fraction of owner's experience and...

MOBILE 1 10W-30 "Extended service" -Snake oil or fluff??

Re: MOBILE 1 10W-30 So why doesn't Amsoil get into the OEM market (or even the normal market) if they are that superior. There must be some place in the world that agrees with your assessment. Their carpet bagger type of marketing is not one that tends to convince the general public in the...

How should my car be broken in? And when to do the oil changes?

So this procedure works for all ring designs, ring tensions, ring materials with all bore materials and bore surface finishes? And Mobil 1 does not have any of the true characteristics of a pure synthetic oil  Seems like if this was the only true way to break an engine in then OEMs...

WELL JUST OVER 300 MILES AND ALREADY HAD PROBLEMS

redsrt10 is the expert opinion for all of us. He ignores those of us that indicate we have not had problems, and are happy with this and previous Vipers. He represents the vocal minority. So out of the 6 or so thousand SRT-10's that have been sold how many have complained here (not counting...

How should my car be broken in? And when to do the oil changes?

Now why would anyone want to change the oil  I keep checking it once or twice a year and it still seems to be there. Getting a little darker but that makes it easier to check the level :2tu: .

It looks great. But I think the lighter pop up needs to be red as well. Would that be difficult to do?

diff between Gen 1 and late model Gen 2 headers

Don't forget that the flex pipe portion also needs to be changed as the attachment method changes from axial clamps (Gen I) to the V-clamp for the later Gen II. They are not interchangeable.

    R/T 10 Radared at 167 mph.

Ah but 98 had "real" windows. Had an Rt/10 up to 170+ but with VMania's. With the stock flappers it would be a treat!

    Chapter 2: SHARK BITES VIPER

Ride height may be due to tightening the shock mounts with the suspension unloaded. The mounts bind and should be tightened in the loaded (design height) position.

Lifter tick at start-up louder/longer when oil level topped off.

If you aerate your oil when hot the air will collect as the oil cools (solvency of air in the oil goes down with temp). This can and does cause start up ticking noise. An overfilled crankcase may result in aerated oil so the story indicated seems plausible. But there are other possible causes...

    Need help....what is it worth???

Red may be the most in supply, but it is also most in demand. I am not sure there is a decrease in value, with the exception of specialy versions that had a higher MSRP. Many people equate Viper with red, similar to Ferrari.

Just curious. Why do people list cars that they have

But do you care if I sold a VW bug back in '65 (No I did not and could not have :) ) So for sold if for Vipers yes, for others why, what is the point? And I would keep other cars listed to be sports cars. No one cares if you drive a benz, a navigator, etc.

    Pressure plate failures?

Nope, not offended. And not sticking up for the stock set-up either. But my experience has been that it has been quite durable. If slippage is occuring it has not seriously impacted the clutch life. It has to be one of the biggest stock clutches at something like 12 1/4 inches. Quite a bit...
