    Frustrated with the VCA

I'm looking forward to that! I have a couple comments on this topic and can't resist joining in. I think we need to make it clear that the club is run in a much better way than it used to be and as Joe mentioned, some "experiments" didn't work so well. But as a whole, the club isn't run...

QUERY FOR PROPELLER HEADS - Driveline Loss - What If?

I have had much more radical differences on Dynojet vs. Mustang Dyno. My car dyno'd at 342/400 (RWHP/TORQUE) on a Mustang but at 552/678 (RWHP/TORQUE) on a Dynojet. Same car, on Nitrous with no mods inbetween. I'm just making this point that comparing a Mustang dyno to anything is a waste of...

    vs 911 twin turbo

I love it when people say "I wasn't really trying." It takes a better man than I to hold back in a race. I'd like to meet a guy that can go 3/4 throttle and watch a car pull away on him, that takes some serious control.

QUERY FOR PROPELLER HEADS - Driveline Loss - What If?

Two arguments this time... 1. It's not done in half the time. A 1000 HP car doesn't finish the dyno run in half the time a 500 HP car does. It probably finishes in 10 to 20% less time. 2. Friction isn't the only issue. Enertia to spin up the driveline is there too. It takes more power to...

QUERY FOR PROPELLER HEADS - Driveline Loss - What If?

You took my comment out of context. I also said a lawnmower engine could turn your driveline. My point was that if you spin up the driveline at the same acceleration to the same speed with a 450 HP engine or a 1000 HP engine, you are using the same amount of force (losing the same amount of...

QUERY FOR PROPELLER HEADS - Driveline Loss - What If?

You are absolutely right from a physics point of view. Well maybe not on your chosen numbers but definitely on your approach. But the change in your variable component is more related to the speed at which you turn the driveline (enertia required and friction goes up) and less to do with...

TERRIBLE NEWS - PAUL MUMFORD - PLANE CRASH?

Re: Thanks for the small time we spent together- Condolences to PMUM's (as we knew him) family and friends from all of us in the Canadian Viper community too. His joy of life and rise in the racing ranks was envied by many of us and his influence stretched around the world! We are deeply...

Help, how to buy a Chrysler Dealership

Hey Tim, how's things, recovered from Indy yet? If you're interested I can send you the email addresses for a member or two in our local region who have dealerships. You got to promise me good prices on parts though!

Who has the fastest Gen.I in the country?

I'm curious too? That is awfully enticing! What has been done other than the supercharger?

    I dyno'd both Vipers yesterday,(95 RT-10, 97 GTS)

Re: I dyno\'d both Vipers yesterday,(95 RT-10, 97 GTS) Hey Ed, thanks for posting your different numbers for different bottle pressures. That is exactly what I was looking for. So far I have only had seat of the pants dyno since I up'd the pressure. My 526/643 Hp/Torq is close to your...

    I dyno'd both Vipers yesterday,(95 RT-10, 97 GTS)

Re: I dyno\'d both Vipers yesterday,(95 RT-10, 97 GTS) That's an interesting question, why don't you start a new thread asking that and see what numbers come back and what they did to get them.

    Corvettes and Vipers

To be fair to Vette guys, they are nice cars but it sucks to be 2nd...or maybe 3rd. Lately I've been drueling over a Diablo. With the Murcielago coming out, the price of the Diablo's have come down a bit. I've always been heavily in love with those cars but I must admit that I'm having a...

Explain rear gear change and dyno effect?

Is there a formula based on the gear change? Why 3 to 5%? Is that related to the change from 3.07 to 3.55s? Just curious!
  14. P

Would 3.55s depreciate the car more Vs stock 3.07?

Gear swap cost me around $300. Fast and easy. Just make sure they put the driveline on the same way they took it off. There is a 50/50 chance of getting it wrong (which they did on mine) and that causes bad, bad, bad...bad vibrations (Beach boy thing). I like having 3.55's, after having them...

Explain rear gear change and dyno effect?

I'm thinking of dyno'ing my RT/10 again soon because I think I have a better working NOS system than I had the last time I dyno'd. But I have 3.55 rear gears instead of the stock 3.07. When I dyno they run it in 4th which is the 1:1 ratio right. But doesn't changing the rear end make a...

    I dyno'd both Vipers yesterday,(95 RT-10, 97 GTS)

Re: I dyno\'d both Vipers yesterday,(95 RT-10, 97 GTS) I assume you were on a Dynojet? I did mine on a Mustang Dyno (aka, piece of crap!) and had to plead with them to give me the numbers it measured rather than what their formula's changed them too. So it's not apples to apples, but my...

    Hood got misaligned

Personally, I'd bend it back before buying a new hood frame...but that's just me!

    Hood alignment question?

At our event this last weekend I noticed one of our new members hood on his late 90's GTS aligns nicely at the center in front but doesn't on the side in front of the wheels over the fascia. It has a big (at least an inch) gap on the sides but not in the front. Almost as if the hood itself has...

Added a whopping 36 Horsepower to my Stable!

The best part was buying a manual choke retainer bracket off a 1960 beetle that fit. It cost me $5 instead of the usual $500 for any part for the Viper. The funniest thing though is the size of the intake. They don't make K&N filters for 28mm (a little over an inch opening) throttle...

Added a whopping 36 Horsepower to my Stable!

OK, technically it's the same component but doesn't have the reliability or longevity it used too! It seems to sputter a little but with enough choking it runs for a while. Why is it that my posts always go straight into the gutter?!!

Added a whopping 36 Horsepower to my Stable!

You hit the nail on the head. Today I had to rebuild the carburetor to get it started and it was amazing to see the parts I had built myself to make a manual choke system for it 20 years ago just as I left it. Fiddled with the same components I had when I was 16! At some points today I felt...

Added a whopping 36 Horsepower to my Stable!

The door fix went well, thanks for asking. It took me 6, I ain't kidding, six!!! straight hours to open the door with the home-made tool from the inside reaching under the interior panel. I basically welded my locks open now so it won't happen again. I could have put on a supercharger faster!!

Added a whopping 36 Horsepower to my Stable!

OK, so my stable only has two cars now, but when I was a kid my father and I built a kit car of a 1934 Frazer Nash (British racer in it's day!). I had to sell it to pay for our wedding many years ago. I hadn't seen it for 20 years but found it again and bought it back. Anyone else out there...

Lights come on dim when I fire engine

Maybe you have a Canadian car?!! They have daytime running lights and come on dim when you start the engine regardless of light switch position. Just kdding but it does sound like they are acting like daytime running lights. But in your case it sounds possibly like something is shorting...
