I'm sure SRT are not happy and neither should their fans be. I'm pretty sure they are being forced to run heavier than the other cars and with smaller restrictors (less hp). The ACO does everything but create fair competition. It's a shame.
Yeah, I rode with some friends around the track and was underwhelmed, no real racing taking place there, heavy noise restrictions, lots of tight off camber turns. Just not my idea of fun with Road Atlanta, Barber and CMP so close. I may try to get in their time trial series at some point...
Hmmm, is this the same Allan that has had some GT3's in the past? Maybe a CLK Black? I think we may know each other or at least some of the same people. I have a few friends who are members at AMP.
I haven't run AMP yet because my car is too loud and I'm not willing to jump through hoops to...
Sounds like it must be AMP (Atlanta Motorsports Park) based on his location and the description of that turn. Sounds just like the last turn onto the front straight.
That's going to be a crap shoot unless you can get the same guy (or same talent level) to have driven both cars. Unless it's a pro driver you have to consider time behind the wheel getting acclimated to the handling, which at this point for the Gen V is next to none, track familiarity, and so...
Point taken, I do know some people who do that as well, probably a little less likely than it would be with a track car like an ACR. I still think we will be lucky to get many track reports before much later in the year though I'd gladly be wrong.
Way too early, not enough cars out yet. I would bet the vast majority of Vipers never see the track. Not only that, no one is going to be setting blazing times in their first time out in the car.
We will be lucky if there is a good sampling of lap times by this time next year.
There is some, Porsche has been using wings that small for decades. It's probably going to be better than the attached platypus lip because it allows for airflow underneath the wing element which is the major provider of DF.
Other than the front grill and small rear wing, that car looks fantastic.
The GTS-R is not the ACR. The ACR will look more like the GTS than the GTS-R.
Keep in mind also that it will benefit Hennessey more to show a lower baseline and higher output after the mods. So expect to see the fan much closer to the car as well. This IS Hennessey we are talking about.
I imagine that anyone with an X (just like any other race car) would do some testing as a session or two on race weekend isn't going to be enough. We see pro and amateur teams all the time at Point By events here in the southeast.
Maybe so, but then how much are we talking about? There is not a huge difference between the GTS-R and Gen V visually to begin with. It will be a lower car, likely with more ground effects, a big wing, splitter and dive planes. I would be it looks more like the renderings, only better. Much...
No, no it's not. The GTS-R is wider all around. Has non streetable ground effects and almost certainly non feasible aero ducting through the front hood.
Absolutely no way the ACR is a replica of the GTS-R. Some resemblance obviously, but that is not the car.
For what?
Good points. But driving is fun too, even if it is just to the grocery store, in fact, it's one of the only reasons I'd go to the grocery store. As an excuse to drive the car. lol.
Enjoy.
800 hp is nuts to put into the hands of ordinary people who can't even handle 400 hp let alone the 640 the Viper has now. Fortunately at least there is TC to keep several owners out of the ditch now at least. But 800 hp isn't useful for anything but trap speed, top speed, standing mile...
Re: Motor Authority: 2013 SRT Viper: Majority Of Orders Are For Ferrari-Influenced GT
I drive a Porsche and love my car, not married to any brand though and do not at all like the direction Porsche is heading. Im done with them until they start making cars for guys passionate about...
If you use the same dyno and same settings every year, that would be the easiest and close enough.
I like trap speed at the drag strip too, drive the same track and launch doesn't really matter, in fact, launch slow, you can still trap high.
