i think i can chime in. the problem is that the breakaway is very abrupt. i've had e few high hp cars and their rear section tires ranged from 245 to 335. the 245 section rear tire breaks away in a very controllable fashion- it gives you plenty of warning, it squeals and then eventually breaks...
none. but i drove one irresponsibly for a day and i managed to spin it twice on purpose on a deserted parking lot so i can say that i've gained more "feel" for it than i would gain if i was just doing quick 2nd-3rd gear romps on the highway...
also, i've had 2 rwd cars with 335/30/18 rear...
i would say that !cats and/or better headers normally lift your hp/tq curves in the rpm range.. so you should lose some bottom end tq, but gain some hp at the top...
exhaust fumes are bad. what you describe means you are leakin exhaust before the catback and it is entering the cockpit. which...
i see. so a pre 2000 model will respond better to mods and is more suitable for force feeding since the pistons are forged? also, are there any changes in the bottom end besides the forged/cast piston change? block? crank? main bearings? conrods? compression? piston skirt depth?
are there any...
y2k gts- i meant the dead spots.. looking straight backwards was ok. i failed to clarify my initial post.. sorry
jim, exactly what i was hoping to read in this thread... dont you guys understand that i am beyond the stage in life where looks alone can make me buy a car? i was hoping to hear...
some questions:
how much can you push through the stock bottom end? i am assuming enough fuel and cat-ed exhaust, progressive power (no nos or jekyl & hyde turbos). are there any differences about gen1 and gen2 engine strenght?
trany- what is it good for assuming a good aftermarket clutch...
onerare,
ok, i think i see the problem. once you stated what you got out of my post, i think i understand.
so let me use your frame to make my self clearer:
1. the car is small inside. so is the lotus. i had a lotus for 4 years. and i sold it for other than ergonimical reasons. so i can rough...
i did not say it is a piece of crap. i said it has its idiosyncrases, but they are not enough to turn me away from buying one.
i did know that honda loses money on each nsx sold, but i did not know that vipers dont pay off... however, i do know that gm makes at least 10k on each regular c5...
agreed. but notice what you said before: "A Z06 is a regular C5". all i said is that it is not so. the regular c5 is 55hp shy of the z06. it is a different car. now, what the m5 is was not part of this argument. for i care it could have been a 250k car. the reason why i brought it up is because...
guys, i am not putting down the viper read what i wrote i am buying one for god sake. all i tried to do is compare it to other cars i had. i had cars making 500+ tq, and they did feel differently. thats all
blackacr: drive one. the only time you will fall asleep is if you want to do so. you...
i am that person, but with close to 2000 posts on ls1.com i hardly call myself a troll i am a member #114 (or so) there and how they have 20k+ members. i used to have a modified ls1 and after i sold it i never let go that board (you have to agree-some entertaining stuff is going on there every...
in no particular order.. i am trying to be as objective as i can.... now keep in mind that i have had some really really ergonomically bad cars so it is not like i am trying to compare it to the bmw.. (a lotus esprit comes to mind)
1. getting in the car is hard. i wacked my head pretty good...
actually, i did my homework and i did read this thread.. however it was refering to a new 01 and is hypothetical (ie no deal yet). i was more interested in deals that has taken place already...
regards
alex

hi guys,

the time has come to get me one of those abs-equipped gts's
