    Dumb Tire Question.

Makara, Thanks for pointing out my lack of clarity. You're right, it's the shape of the contact patch I was attempting to point out, albeit, lamely. I'm still arguing wider will do a better job of transfering power into forward momentum due to the width of the patch perpendicular to the...

    Dumb Tire Question.

The width is required to put the power to the ground. A 335mm tire is a bit over 13" a 275 tire is is 10.8", or about a 20% difference in contact patch assuming the same pressure and circumferenece. There is a reason powerful cars (any exotic for example) run fat tires. Eric 01ACR

    Fire Suppression Question

Hey Mark, A friend of mine from another club is putting together a halon system group purchase. I'll provide his name off-line if you're interested. As far as I know, it's a 3-nozzle system with heads usually installed in the cockpit, underhood and around the fuel tank area, cost was a few...

ACR Autopia: Thanks for the reply. On the sediment thing, I guess I'm skeptical. I've purchased 4 new cars in the last five years and I have yet to find sediment in my oil/pan/plug with my first oil change. I guess my question was whether there was something inherent to this particular...

ACR Autopia wrote: <<Find yourself a good Viper Tech and get your oil changed.>> ACR Autopia, can I get some detail on the oil here? Heck, the car uses Mobile1, I was thinking its good for at least 3-4K miles (comfortably say, 1/2 of the 7500 recommended service life). Why would...

    Corner Balancing

Jeff, Corner weighting attempts to equal the weight distribution of the RF/LR with the LF/RR assuming the weight of the driver in the seat. If you are doing a high performance alignment (agressive negative camber, for example), it is usually a prerequisite to assure the characteristics remain...

Photos Up! (thanks Chris, simpler than expected, except for some initial upload probs.) Bob W - thanks for the tips on pads, you're right it is brake dust. Are you saying these EBC green pads have *no* dust? I mean the wheels are going to need to be cleaned at some point, right? Eric (It is...

Wow, what a welcome. Thanks all, I'm glad to be here and look forward to learning what I can from you guys who've already been through the various schools (of hard knocks). The Viper crowd is certainly not like some of the other boards -- another bonus. Fred - Thanks for bursting the bubble...

and I'm just friggin' delighted -- still can't wipe the smile off. Biggest surprise: The car is smaller than I expected (5" shorter wheel base than my 99 Cobra), this just seems odd because the proportions look so large. 2nd biggest surprize: The build quality is exceptional -- much higher...
