Excuses we use to drive our Vipers....

Did I expect too much from my Viper and/or me?????????
I have a 2001 Viper GTS stock save for filters, smooth tubes, and Kumhos. It runs 11.6@120, enough to take alot of blown Stangs, but not all. For instance, my 92 Stang has a 347 stroker motor and a blower, it looks like a stock Stang with Weld wheels, but... Last time it was at the track it...- YELL03

Kumhos or drag radials ??
I just ordered them regular. I did not have them shaved or heat cycled. You just have to drive on them for a couple of days and then all is well. Howard- YELL03

KUMHO ECSTA V700s on the rears! My 60' dropped from a 1.89 on Pilots to a 1.68 on Kumhos at the track. My 1/8 dropped from 8.0 to 7.5 and my 1/4 dropped from 12.3 to 11.6. Drop your Pilots to 25-26#, tach it up to 2000rpms (like 1/16th pedal), as soon as you get the light let off the clutch and as soon as it grabs go full throttle. This should get you 1.8s and 1.9s. Your welcome. I would say that 1.8s definitely are important in getting 11s, BUT..... What I found more important was the fact that with stock tires I could not shift 1-2 without getting out of control GRANNYSHIFTING. The Kumhos allowed me to go 1-2 as hard as I wanted (still grannyshifting)...- YELL03

98vipergts - I am going to help you as best I can. I have a stock Viper GTS except for Roe smooth tubes, Roe filters, and Kumho Ecsta V700 tires (sticky). When I first bought the car last July 2004 it just had K&N filters and stock tires, no smooth tubes. Two weeks later at the track it...- YELL03
